Feeling some sympathy for the scriptwriter who had to drop the “Mr Colour” gimmick because the audience would think they lifted it from Reservoir Dogs.
The other Denzel train movie is Unstoppable. It’s great highly recommend. Also directed by Tony Scott.
Very much hope we get to hear about Guy Ritchie’s “The Gentlemen” before heist season ends, because I threw that on expecting something at least watchable and got the most hideous, ideologically repugnant piece of old geezerslop imaginable. It seems like almost the anti-Sexy Beast in a way
I'm holding out hope for a "Geezercrime" mini season as part of Gangster season.
There is a subway station called Hoyt-Schermerhorn that has closed tracks. Film studios can 'rent' it out of they need to use a whole platform for something or jump on the tracks. Back in the day before everything is computer, they would have to change out the station name tiles if it was going to be in the shot. I miss that. It was kinda cool to see that little piece of set dressing left behind.
I am not sure if car season is over, but I would kill for KJB Thelma and Louise
Yall should review Redline (2009)
Hi KJB, I've been trying to contact you regarding a merch order; I've replied to the original email discussion, I've sent a request in via the website contact form, and I've sent an email outside of the original thread; but I've got no response from any channel. I don't have xitter else I'd DM someone on there.
Gang I don’t know what season it would fall under but I really think The Brotherhood of the Wolf is a necessary addition to the kjb canon
If only the city bought Sony computers, but alas they buy Dells
How can you tell if Tony Scott directed the movie you’re watching? Don’t worry, he’ll tell you.
Completely useless information: the device they use to beat the deadman’s switch in the movie is a cardellini, a piece of film gear used for mounting lights on pipes. I like to think that they got to shooting the movie, hadn’t figured out what to use yet, and then looked around them, finally settling on a bit of grip gear.
If you want to get the WTYP crew or perhaps Gareth in for a movie Tony Scott made a movie called Unstoppable, which also features Denzel Washington being The Guy In Charge Of Trains. Based on a real life incident apparently, I wouldn't know anything about that, but I'm sure some people would. And of course, for peak Denzel, the recommendation of Training Day as a heist movie maintains.
Please, please watch Tony Scott's The Hunger. It's an excessively atmospheric, romantic 80's vampire movie with Susan Surandon, Catherine Deneuve and David fucking Bowie. It's not good per se but it has such personality that it makes it a cult classic.
It's a shame that Denzel Washington made that devil's bargain to be a great actor, and was cursed to appear in shitty movies
I will dedicate my life to earning a beige heart
Came here to report taking psychic damage from hearing November say that Man on Fire is a bit like Max Payne 3.
Speaking of Wall Street villainy, screenwriter Josh Olson talks about being brought in with some other writers to brainstorm ideas for a new Death Wish movie in the early 2010s. He pointed out that New York Street crime isn't the boogeyman that it used to be, and maybe this one can be someone going after Wall Street bankers because their life was ruined by them. The studio rejected the idea because they said "we have to remember these movies have a real world effect on people." ie, we don't want to be stochastic terrorists against innocent finance guys, let's make a harmless movie about a middle class white guy blowing away poor non-white kids instead I don't think the piss thing is weird. It would be something they would have to worry about. Idk maybe I'm the weird one for not immediately associating piss with kink. I struggled to piss at the Atlanta airport, never mind a hostage situation. Although I did successfully hang a wire in front of the church when I was like 4 years old while everyone was standing around watching
Thought the movie was fine, prefer the original. The Godfather riff was beautiful, genuinely made my morning.
One more time: stave it off, one, two, three, and now you can count to three! Reminds me of the best scene from Dark Knight Rises. "This is a stock exchange! There's no money here for you to steal!" "Really? Then what are you doing here?" From the start of the movie when Name was an interesting revolutionary character instead of an evil-for-evil's sake wrestling hell cultist. This is just like when Nolan stole the Odyssey from some Greek guy.
So hype for Alien!!
Please, please watch The Godfather in reverse and review it
I think the "You never see a U-Haul behind a hearse" thing is just a lesser known US aphorism. I'm pretty sure I first heard it from an ex's grandfather a year or two before this movie came out.
“I didn’t know it wasn’t you, Fredo. You mended my heart.”
I love the background zombie news thing in Army of Thieves, and after Abi suggested the idea of the marvel universe version of the taking of Pellam 123, I now want movies where the presence of superheroes would do nothing to help solve the plot but they are established to take place in an existing superhero universe. It has to be something you could see in another movie, not a parody, but it doesn't matter here beyond adding flavor to the world, maybe influencing some folks backstories and motivations but it isn't a superhero movie in terms of genre. This rom-com that completely stands on its own happens to be part of the MCU.
Oh man. Now I want to see the Tenet cut of the Godfather trilogy.
Milk pro-tip: divide a gallon across multiple liter bottles. Freeze them when they’re not being used. Lasts forever. Good for baking and cooking
I also yearn for the netbook tiny laptop form factor (and the phone with a physical keyboard, and cars with button controls, and women who look like Elisha Cuthbert)
So the ending is just the ending of Falling Down.
Holy shit, you need to watch The Godfather part 1 and 2.
I’ve gotten ai robocalls that include the sound of a mechanical keyboard lol
Yeah I've had those with medical calls, and what drives me nuts is that it's the same length and pace of some furious typing, like it just played 'keyboard001.wav'.
I have a soft spot for Travolta villains. Not sure what season Face Off would be, but I'm looking forward to it.
Swordfish is a heist movie!
The screenwriter for this movie is Brian Helgleland who won an academy award for best adapted screenplay for L.A. Confidential. Watch "Be Gay, Solve Crimes"!
He also worked on the screenplay for Spenser Confidential for TF heads
51:30 Okay. You *have* to watch the Godfather now.
is Abby referring to unstoppable in the beginning?
I believe so, I remember it from the now retroactively transgender YouTube show citation needed.
Halloween is coming up, I submit Tony Scott's debut feature The Hunger. Where Catherine Deneuve, Susan Sarandon, and David Bowie play vampires in a love triangle. Looks gorgeous, weak script. Like a massive critical and commercial flop and he never made anything like it again.
the screenwriters barely disguised gastrointestinal issues
Don’t worry, VAIO is still around!
Okay thank goodness, I was starting to listen to the Disco Elysium episode of Be gay solve crimes despite not yet having played the game, because it was the only episode I hadn't listened to yet Descriptions of Travolta are reminding me of from Paris with Love, the movie where he looks basically the same and he has to teach a woke young CIA agent how to be a badass and murder a Muslim woman
Oh no, another 2009 [derogative] movie has hit the podcast. Oh well. Edit: for context : I listened to the sherlock Holmes Be Gay Solve Crimes just before this one.
Finally. The *retaking* of Pelham 123...
I'm looking forward to the sequel, The Getbacking of 456
Time to go to woyk at the noiyve center!
again?
has morale improved?
