- With the ceasefire in full effect, the media has returned to ignoring the daily atrocities in Gaza. My friend Ahmed still needs to feed his family and afford medicine. Anything you can kick in would be hugely appreciated.

Hey it looks like this episode is missing from the RSS feed, a few other people in the comments here mentioned it too so I know it's not just me lol
Going back to heist seson proper... for the love of God please do Rififi
Sorry for the late comment, but I just want to second the recommendation for Logan Lucky. It's an Appalachian Ocean's clone with Daniel Craig's fucked accent work in a supporting role.
I still say the thesis 'If your ever expanding polycule goes to work for the CIA the legendary Twink-bear will appear to fuck you up' is a rock solid one.
These movies are so the same that I didnt realize I hadnt listened to the last episode until John Cena popped up
I listened to this episode on the RSS feed the day it released, but now it seems to be gone completely?
STAR MIGO
It's unsightly to beg, but as said above, please do Bound for heist season
Does it bug anyone else that Abigail is the first one to jump on an actor to call him a pedophile or sex criminal UNLESS it's Jared Leto or some other sex criminal actor that's currently working?
It's weird to hear November describe a Carsman as "inspiring the people of Brasil" and not mean carsploding. While walking my dog, I involuntarily said it loud "fuck off" when it was revealed that Gal Gadot came back.
3 is when they peak.
next free episode, Never Say Never Again With No Notes Ever
As far as heist movie suggestions go: does Rogue One count? Or Solo, for that matter? Fantastic Mister Fox? Matrix IV?
What was the Croatia sea mine bit about?
For some reason Ice Cold and Deadname isn't available on the patreon feed...
Some Heist and Heist adjacent films that might be good to cover are Hackers, The Fifth Element, and Mad Max: Fury Road. Just some thoughts.
I know it’s new, and perhaps a bit outside the theme, but would you all be able to include I Love Boosters in heist season?
If we can suggest films for the season, The Dungeons and Dragons film combines both a number of heists and also Michelle Rodriguez!
Holy shit they did the thing that the live action Garfield movie did where they made the bad guy, Happy Chapman, look more villainous by saying he hates lasagna lmao
anybody else having issues with this episode not showing on their RSS feed?
Yep not on mine
I did a double take at the hard R "Uyghur"
I've said it before, I will keep saying it - please consider doing Steve McQueen's 2018 film "Widows," which stars MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ
Would we consider Frequency a heist movie? Idk I just feel like it is spiritually close to one and has a lot to say about masculinity between father and son.
@1:14:00 being raised by smarmy one-liner action heroes dies seem like it would be a recipe for creating a villain
I think it's time you dive into some Danish movies, and start off with In China They eat Dogs. Fun heist movie, has a bunch of things to say about morality.
Damn there’s so many of these movies. I’ve never seen a single one, so it’s always been a surprise to learn there is ANOTHER one when the podcast episodes pop up
Gzgzhzhzgzgzgzgzgzcagg,gz
This Episode is not on the RSS Feed?
Choosing to interpret the water Momoa falls in is just the spring from Ranma 1/2 but it turns you gay instead of into a woman
Okay, so, hear me out. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. It's a heist movie, it says lots of things about masculinity, and it's from a time when Johnny Depp was still hot and just this side acceptable as a person. Also, I'm convinced it inspired most of the MCU output. What tier do I have to subscribe to for how long to make this happen?
No more ‘technically a heist film’ suggestions. Only actual heist movies. I want to see Swordfish, I want to see Bound, Entrapment, Pelham 123. American Animals is an excellent subversion of the heist I really recommend
Seconding the recommendation of Sneakers! But also throwing out Widows and D&D: Honor Among Thieves, which are not only heist movies with implicit critiques of male insecurity but also *both* feature Michelle Rodriguez in various degrees of resistance to heteronormativity
YES AGREED on the D&D movie
If I'm thinking insane car movies about racing you gotta watch redline
It's really weird that this film all about "Dom I am going to kill everyone you love" opens with them going "Dom this is your previously unmentioned grandma who you love very much" AND THEN NEVER BRINGS HER BACK
Sort of assuming you've got plans for it already, but BOUND is absolutely a heist movie to cover in heist season
Wait, wait wait, in honour of Michelle Rodriguez, here's a thought: is Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves a heist film? It's not, definitely not a heist film.
Does Back to the Future part 2 count as heist? Trying to heist the sports Almanac from biff.
To be honest, I've been listening to these podcasts and I do not think I understand who anyone in these movies is or anything that happens. I'm glad we're moving on to movies that I will remember hearing about again.
I'd love you to cover Snatch by Guy Ritchie, if only just to see how high the cultural insensitivity score can go. Also, Inception counts as a heist movie and I'd love to hear your takes on Nolan.
Tenet is also a heist movie...
Anyone else not getting this in their podcast feed?
I know we are leaving car season but i must pitch again one of the best car movies ever and has tons of things to say about masculinity. Red Line, one of the most expensive anime movies ever
Random question: Did I just see Abbie murdering the entire fuck out of a guy in the new trailer for House of the Dragon? Damn. Also since recommendations are flying I'm going to say Training Day again.
Youre gonna see Abi murdering the fuck out of so many guys
Someone else said Reservoir Dogs and I agree! You should also see if you can fit in Tarkovsky's Stalker, for the crossover of Heist and Religion Seasons.
Big Heist recommendation: Hudson Hawk! Insane 90’s Bruce Willis heist comedy that features among other things an truly unhinged Richard e Grant and Sandra Bernhard
Can I ask you to consider watching The Batman? I would be really interested to hear what you think of it
My heist season suggestion is The Wrong Trousers. Partly because I want to know if the trousers count as a truck
Please, PLEASE watch Bandits for heist season. Its a heist movie about polyamory
Reacher makes me feel insane. It's like a first person delusions of a serial killer where everyone around him loves he murders people without remorse and hospitalises random strangers for perceived slights.
The movie's homophobia is so bad you couldn't even bring yourselves to make a localized fatburger joke. The worsening homophobia and transpobia since the past movie I think tracks pretty well with US culture. I think LGBTQ+ support here peaked around 2019/2020. During his first term, Trump was largely unconcerned with gender/sexual identity issues, and the rest of the US right wing was getting constantly distracted by whatever Trump was getting constantly distracted by. Then during Covid the right wing media went full court press on telling the worst people in the US that the most important thing in the world was that they never be made to feel uncomfortable., and after Trump lost in 2020 every right winger decided that the key to stepping into the post-Trump power vacuum was to openly be the biggest asshole possible, especially to trans people. And then there was no post-Trump right wing power vacuum because Biden dropped the ball, but Trump himself is hugely influenced by the right wing echo chamber so now he's hugely anti-trans in a way he wasn't before. But don't worry, Woke 2 is coming.
Apparently Reacher was supposed to be Jason Momoa’s brother and Joaquim de Almeida’s other son.
The Guns of Navarone is very close to a heist movie.
Before robbery season is over, please, I beg of you, i implore you, watch the Australian crime film Two Hands. Stars Heath Ledger and Rose Byrne, has a lot to say about masculinity, and is a terrific watch.
This is a fantastic suggestion!
The barbecue is just a care bear stare but manlier
9:13 Glad you have been introduced to international treasure and EGOT Rita Moreno
As an American who has watched every Fast and Furious, the only reason anyone watches these movies in the theaters is to see how much dumber it is than the last one. Anyway this one is the worst one
"I live my life one carbomb at a time", famous last words of Kyler McGuillicuttiee - ASU frat president
I AM ONCE AGAIN ASKING FOR A REVIEW OF THE (disastrously culturally impactful) 2011 FILM DRIVE FEATURING RYAN GOSLING. -BEEP BEEP
Kind of a low hanging fruit but Inception could make for a good late Heist Season episode
Would love you guys to cover The Siege with Denzel Washington at somepoint (or Crimson Tide)
I saw this movie in theaters when it came out and had an amazing time, because it was the first and only film I've seen in the franchise and I was seeing it with a friend I had a massive crush on. About 10 minutes into Jason Momoa's on-screen appearance, I turned to my friend and said "it's a good thing he's so charismatic and is having such a good time playing this, because otherwise I would be *incredibly* offended." I wonder if that's a testament to how quickly things have deteriorated for queer/trans people, that I felt secure enough in our place in society to read Momoa's performance charitably? I haven't watched it since (and don't really have an interest in doing so) but I wonder how I would feel about it watching it again today.
Do cons count as heists? If yes, I'd recommend the 1973 movie "The Sting". It's a little over 2 hours long but I think it's a good slow burn of watching a bunch of guys build and then execute a pretty good con
I have been saving my notes for this moment: THIS MOVIE IS GREAT IF you do EXACTLY what I did: - Summer - DRIVE IN, BABY - DRAG your MOM who is an intellectually voracious slop-hater! Unfortunately she loves you and seeing you have a good time! - Scream throughout as formerly dead fambily members return, bury your mom in backstory - Enjoy the small town New England smells and fambilys out for a great night. Is this the first act of Jaws???
Mom autistically identified which dam is in the closing action scene and which movie it was from (a Bond?? I forget)
I've seen all eleven of these movies and with exception of the first one they are shit. The level of shit keeps growing and growing. When Fast X came out I was going through a bunch health issues when I finally got around to watching it, I was so bored I turned it off. Everything seemed so rout and predictable. I agree with Abi that Jason Mamoa's costuming is cunty as hell. It might be the best thing in this movie.
If you are still doing heist movies, may a hog suggest Logan Lucky? It's what would happen if NASCAR met Ocean's 11. I know that doesn't sound like a recommendation but it's better than I'm making it sound.
I don't think I'll ever re-listen to these episodes. Eleven episodes of pain. I re-listen to the Rambo's, the bonds, the Eurospy dregs, but these... Why would I choose to re-experience that?
I've been holding my tongue cause y'all seem to have been having a rough go of it with F&F, but the modern Lone Ranger movie with Johnny Depp playing as a Native American Jack Sparrow is technically a heist movie
John Cena putting more stars on the wall than a planetarium
I will hear no slander against Reacher. He plays an autistic action hero better than anyone ever has
In the books, he canonically always knows exactly what time it is
One must imagine boulder man happy
idk if it falls strictly into heist season, but The Servant starring dirk bogarde is a little bit Parasite and a little bit Duke Of Burgundy. its been making me insane for a while due to the wombo combo of class anxiety and imperialist anxiety and gay anxiety going on in there
The general feeling towards this film was like forcing yourself to eat the last bit of Christmas dinner when you're already full. Rest in piss to the fast franchise
Heist season suggestions - first off, two very different 1992 heist movies, Sneakers and Reservoir Dogs, Sneakers is a very weird movie and I'd love to hear your takes on it, but if there's a "hacking" season in the future it could wait for that. Reservoir Dogs I assume is already in consideration. Jackie Brown, presumably already on the list too but if not worth considering. The Getaway (1972), Steve McQueen directed Sam Peckinpah, and its tagline was "THEY'RE HOT" underneath the male and female leads (time for 1970s dysphoria?). And finally I offer, admittedly I haven't seen it since the 1990s, but I know it was pretty fun then, The Great Train Robbery (1978), starring Sean Connery! and Donald Sutherland!!! wearing top hats in a steam-age heist movie written and directed by Michael Crichton?!?
Capitalism flattens everything.
Temporary catharsis
long live the heroes of the revolution jacob and mia torretto for their direct action against the amerikkkan empire!
Jason Momoa was throughout this movie like "I have a doctorate in gayology, I could shoot you from Stuttgart und still produce ze desired effect!"
Fast and Furious is the polar opposite of Soviet photo doctoring, in that the bad guys get edited into past pictures
2Fast 2Numerous
I have been saying FOR YEARS that we need equal opportunity meat market shots. SHOW THAT DICK! SHOW THEM TITS! I'm not even bi, I just want everyone to get something out of it!
Falling into the big body of water that completely changes your personality is what Christians actually believe if you think about it.
Yeah, I got BPD. Buoyancy Personality Disorder
The general premise of these movies, as well as literally all other long running generic actions movies, including Bond, just becomes "big world threatening thing, must stop", and there's never anything interesting done with it. These franchises always end up becoming the same thing. I have to wonder if there's anything interesting to read into about the state of the world in that archetypal action plot.
The book series He Who Fights With Monsters started with that understanding and has actually done some interesting things with it. There's 12 of 14 planned books already out and the audiobook version narrated by Heath Miller is excellent
haters: they'll never get faster or more furious then this! the fambily:
If you’re still looking for heist films - Fury Road! Heist some ladies with Charlize Theron!
And its a big truck movie, further diving into the truckman/carman divide
Dwayne Johnson and muscle cars reminded me of the roaring rampage of revenge movie "Faster", a B movie with actual characters and themes and things to say I know y'all have a million movies to watch, but Dwayne Johnson carman roaring rampage of revenge that has something to say about violence besides "it good" is a damn good one. Billy Bob Thornton is a junkie detective.
I'm dreading the easy jokes when they release the fast 11 movie. Or the references, I hope they don't try to fit gen alfa jokes...
Oh God, I thought 9 was the latest one
is our long national nightmare finally over??
So far...
25 years of Fast & Furious... Excuse me as I turn into a pile of mummified dust.
Finally ! thank god its over
Our long national nightmare is at its end
I really thought they missed a trick by not using fast 10 your seatbelts on the promo material in like 2022
i maintain feeling proud that in this entire franchise, i’ve only seen 1, 2, 8 and 9 over the span of nearly 10 years now
I've never seen any of them, my brain is completely unrotted.
O no
