S4E31: 2Fast2Furious
Faster than anyone could have possibly predicted, we're all fully on board. Brian has been fired from the police for refusing to bring down Dom Toretto, and, like all fired police officers, He is immediately sent to a different city and employed in a clandestine manner to do exactly what he just did again. But this time, he insists on involving a man from his past: Roman Pearce.

FREE PALESTINE
Hey, Devon here. In our home, we talk a lot about how insane everything feels, and agonise constantly over what can be done to best help the Palestinians trapped in Gaza facing the full brunt of genocidal violence. My partner Rebecca has put together a list of four fundraisers you can contribute to- all of them are at work on the ground doing what they can.
-Palestinian Communist Youth Union, which is doing a food and water effort, and is part of the official communist party of Palestine

-Water is Life, a water distribution project in North Gaza affiliated with an Indigenous American organization and the Freedom Flotilla
https://www.waterislifegaza.org/
-Vegetable Distribution Fund, which secured and delivers fresh veg, affiliated with Freedom Flotilla also
https://www.instagram.com/linking/fundraiser?fundraiser_id=1102739514947848
-Thamra, which distributes herb and veg seedlings, repairs and maintains water infrastructure, and distributes food made with replanted veg patches

It occurred to me that while we are watching all of these racing movies, days of thunder might be a good one to sprinkle in. I think it’s got a lot to say about masculinity, though perhaps not much positive.
If you need a good 60s movie for the pod, Jack the Giant Killer would be a good choice because it was the first movie you all made before 1967 Casino Royale
might a hog humbly suggest the world of suzie wong for premium 60s technicolor hong kong vs a james bondian level of disrespect towards everyone in the film who is not british
If you need a guest on who is familiar with cars and trucks, truck driving culture or rules in the USA, or firearms, I am here and willing! Just saying! I'd love to hang out and contribute! Not only have I seen ALL of these FnF movies, but a ton of heist and getaway flicks too and I'm always down to watch more.
How often would you say you crush sportscar drivers out of sheer trucker spite, let's say in an average year ?
Sadly Director John Singleton never won an Oscar though was nominated twice for Boyz N The Hood. He sadly died too young. 😞
i said forget about it cuh
Since yall are watching the Assignment (a bad movie by Walter Hill) yall should absolutely do The Warriors or Streets of Fire by Walter Hill as well! Both are chock full of 70-80’s masculinity and a good deal of queerness
November mentioning The Bad Guys mear months after the sequel came out makes wonder what the kids movie pick for Heist season is going to be. Fantastic Mr Fox or The Wrong Trousers are also high on my wish list.
Bonus episode Joe Joe's bizarre adventures
Ben, who edits for Caravan of Garbage, did a great video about this and came to lots of the same sizzling conclusions. A great companion piece: 2 Bi 2 Furious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2PqynUel2E
Literally watched this in preparation for this episode
Speaking of Devon Aoki, you gotta watch D.E.B.S.
Roman and Paul Walker: they were vroom-mates
The Cop Car Liquid comparison to the Blues Brothers compels me to ask: Is The Blues Brothers (1980) a heist movie, at least spiritually? There is crime done, there is a chase, and we start and end in prison. Blues Brothers Bonus Bepisode 2026?
I went back and watched the original Roger Corman The Fast and the Furious from the 1950s, which is completely unrelated plotwise, but does feature hair-trigger truck drivers and women explicitly not being allowed to race.
It's not *clinically* pedophilia cuz it becomes something else once puberty happens, which only matters clinically in a clinical context and not when determining the ethicality of a fucked up relationship. So congratulations Paul Walker, I guess, for not being a pedophile but still being a molester. I spit on the grave of this white demon
This is the film whose title I use as a template for all future Fast and the Furious Films, until we get to 8, which then takes over. So in my mind, the next film is 3 Fast 3 Furious, even though that makes no sense.
am i going insane or is this episode playing at like 1.2x speed
Is it fast or are you furious
doesn't exactly matter if the age of consent in britain is 16, it is illegal in the US where he lived.
With Abby’s point about homophobia being part of cultural insensitivity, can we retroactively give Fast 1 some more points for the F bomb? 😅
Reminder that both Suki and Mia Toretto appear in D.E.B.S. (2004)
I'm looking forward to seeing if women get to be people in the Fast&Furious universe, or if it's only Michelle Rodriguez.
What Vin Diesel seems to always put forward in regards to his rejection of Furious2 is the idea that he at the time saw furious1 was a great movie, a potential cinematic classic, and wanted any sequel making, if it were to be done at all, to be done with that attitude. "If you're going to do a sequel, do it like Francis Ford Coppola, do it like one of the literary greats" is a quote from Vin Diesel in regards to how he was supposedly thinking at the time.
I love that he did Chronicles of Riddick instead. I love that terrible movie.
Re:Unprovoked Violence, y'all forgot that Roman up and lit up a bunch of cops at the impound. Which to be fair is based, but is still summat violent.
Ffs guess it’s on the shirt too nvm
Yeah it's West Coast Customs
There is an iron cross sticker on paul walker’s apartment window at 3:19
Devon. I'm in Minneapolis wishing less shit was happening here. We're sticking together and getting through though. We're having a statewide general strike.
Solidarity from Ohio. Also, Go Wild and Vikings.
This is why when playing a driving game you want to keep you faction reputation with the truckers high.
Was up all night with food poisoning, so this is such a welcome surprise.
I am once again asking for a review of Drive (2011) -BEEP BEEP
Y'all mind if a white boy speaks a little African American Vernacular English?
The thing about all the white cars. Besides making our stars, the cars, pop it's very late 1990s early 2000s Florida everyone including me had a while car.
White Ford Taurus was the most common car on the road at that time. I used to have one.
Just here to say I appreciate the episode art 👍
Devon Aoki.... OH. .... They're going to look at Frank Miller's SIN CITY someday. Oh, dear.
That'll be fun. I fucking hate Frank Miller and his stupid fascist comics so much.
When I watched this movie with a friend they commented that the main villain looks just a little bit like jerma which did not leave my head because it really is like that jerma bit about him secretly being a criminal kingpin sociopath
I will react to this one with a mild wojak face not on it being a bad movie, but only to pog when movie, japan
I saw that rat scene when I was like 13 and it remains mentally tome the benchmark of a movie torture actually horrifying me when I think about it
Shoutout to my transmasc car guy friend I’m sure if I could ever get him to listen to a podcast he would feel very seen this episode
I can't wait to hear these three taking brain damage from The Assignment (2016).
I would *love* for Devon to confidently read off the internet car database because I have an internet car database in my head that does that when I watch these movies
Y'all might enjoy Redline after watching all these movies
Once you've finished them all you can do it with no notes, impossible
We'll be really impressed with how well they're doing the first one and then they'll describe Vin Diesel driving into the ocean and we will realize that they're just describing Point Break and form an angry mob
These movies remind me of a tweet I saw where some lady said something like " I said it was my favorite movie, I didn't say it was a good movie". I do really like the fasts and furiouses.
Huh, I would have expected his colours to be black and yellow.
Can't wait for whichever one is the one with the safe
I've basically only fully seen two Fast and Furious movies: 2 Fast 2 Furious at my cousin's house on his ps2, and then the one with the safe, in theaters when my sister texted me and said "hey remember the Fast and Furious movies we watched with cousin?"
Anyone who wants more comedy about this movie needs to check out "2 bi 2 furious - video essay" by Ben from Canada. Its hilarious.
Ejecto seato cuz!
Right before I pressed play I had an awful thought that what if they didn't discuss any of the bisexual subtext Also as a young white tween boy, this movie specifically decided what I thought was cool clothing and shoes. The relay race dual thing was about big heavy American muscle versus light nimble Japanese import, and I'm kind of wondering who would have won if the guy had just called the bluff and let the cars smash into each other. Presumably Brian's car would have crumpled better than the other guys, but the other guy's car was much more heavy and solid. Also LOL at Roman improvising shooting at a cop as part of a mission. That is an incredibly serious thing in real life and in a movie.
I do not understand why people are pedos. Children and teens are annoying, cringey, and gross. I know, I was one once. I have firsthand experience with how dumb kids are. If you are attracted to that, you have something wrong with you mentally.
My God, I love that fit in the thumbnail.
Always thought that 2F2F was Need For Speed: Underground coded, rather than midnight club coded.
24:50 You and he were... buddies, weren't you?
I said forget about it cuh
I'm a strong believer that Tyrese Gibson is the heart of this franchise moving forward for anyone who appreciates how daft yet fun they are. Defending the film's feels bad though when Fast X drops because it's legitimately dreadful
Yeah I kept falling asleep. I think I had three tries and then gave up.
Did this use to drop on Wednesdays? I feel like I was so sure of that ( ._.)
It was Tuesdays as far back as 2021, but it's slowly drifted to friday as a combination of legitimate delays and not wanting to crowd the space. NGNM drops thursday now so we moved to Friday
I'm frightened because this is, unequivocally, the *worst* one :p
Arriving to the slop with unprecedented speed on my stubby hog legs
