FREE PALESTINE
Hey, Devon here. In our home, we talk a lot about how insane everything feels, and agonise constantly over what can be done to best help the Palestinians trapped in Gaza facing the full brunt of genocidal violence. My partner Rebecca has put together a list of four fundraisers you can contribute to- all of them are at work on the ground doing what they can.
-Palestinian Communist Youth Union, which is doing a food and water effort, and is part of the official communist party of Palestine

-Water is Life, a water distribution project in North Gaza affiliated with an Indigenous American organization and the Freedom Flotilla
https://www.waterislifegaza.org/
-Vegetable Distribution Fund, which secured and delivers fresh veg, affiliated with Freedom Flotilla also

-Thamra, which distributes herb and veg seedlings, repairs and maintains water infrastructure, and distributes food made with replanted veg patches

Devon calling out the wild friendship reunion requirements as “extremely neurotypical” and then Abbie rejecting that as the most neurotypical presenting person on the podcast was wonderful.
Just followed "No God's, No Mayors." This was a delight.
I think I need KJB to cover Magic Mike XXL
SCUM in this case presumably stands for Samantha, Carrie, Unprovoked Violence, and Miranda
Sex and the City getting a 9 on misogyny is justice for every '90s man and woman who got traumatized by the show.
sex AND the city? you're lucky if you can afford just one!
i would watch every episode of sex and the city if mattie did a podcast about it
holy shit, is Sex and the City the first movie to get a 9 on Misogyny since Goldfinger?? that's impressive
my parents live next door to this guy ron galotti, another guy mr. big is partially based on, and for years his enormous poorly-trained mastiff used to wander up the hill every morning to shit in my parents’ FRONT YARD. they live in rural vermont the dog had full fields to choose from. ron never did anything about this habit
Sometimes when using my exercise bike I slightly lose my balance and in those moments my brain screams "I do not want to die like Mr. Big!!!"
They weren't lying abt James Joyce btw, bro was an absolute freak
Kill Mr. Big would be an incredible spinoff podcast
OK cast the Feud season about SJP and Kim Cattrall, all I've got is June Diane Raphael as Kim Cattrall.
The random Equilibrium jokes were amazing.
Religion season is over, now it's choosing violence season, apparently.
I for one am glad that Dev's Carrie Lyndon joke got picked up. Too many of them are missed! Nova's John Ruskin joke deserved better though.
Now the show is consistently breaking their vow to not cover the first movie in a series when are Tom and Demi joining to do Spy Kids 1?
Yes yes yes! !!
One of those "Is there someone you forgot to ask?" memes with Carrie, Mr. Big, and a Peloton.
Putting in a $1 bid for Warner Brothers but only for carriebradshaw.com
Constantly updating the chat to see if someone's posted an edit of Mr Big doing gun-kata
have to take a moment to say im obsessed with your username that scans perfectly
So did Sarah Jessica Parker do the Columbo cigar thing with shoes? To break that down, apparently the reason Columbo smokes a cigar was because Peter Falk thought it would be a good way to get free cigars for the rest of his life.
When I realized Mattie was in this one, I said "Hell Yea." And did a little fist bump.
Reconsidering taking Charlotte as my new name because of this episode lol And of course I'm also Ex-mormon lol
Alyson Greaves could be a good guest to get if you're doing another forcefem movie
It’s so interesting because the Sex and the city films are so problematic and there is so much wrong with them that it should be fascinating to hear it being taken apart by queer people that have not really engaged with the show prior and so don’t feel any “loyalty” or tinge of nostalgia towards it. But I will say that I was made a little uncomfortable by the constant belittling of some of the “womanly interests” of the show that felt like disavowal and a level of internalised misogyny. There are several ways to be a woman but it would have been interesting to question the portrayal of womanhood in films inspired by a show that was so popular, amongst women. And I was a bit disappointed in the fact that usually this podcast has such incisive observations about media that revolves around masculine archetypes but some of the criticism of this felt like when stand up comedians make fun of Sex and the city for being “chick shit”. One of the most egregious part is the constant rehashing that it is “written by gay men” which was true for the very beginning of the show but by that point SJP was a very involved producer who had a say about the storyline and dialogue, so the image used of them being puppeteered is not accurate. I only point this out because I think it is actually interesting to question this form of misogyny that comes from women themselves and the way they seek to portray womanhood. Especially interacting with that idea as a show with hosts who are themselves trans women. I just think this would have been the occasion to explore this weird form of woman on woman misogyny that Sex and the city is an egregious perpetrator of, rather than rag on about how silly it is to care about designer clothes… because it’s kind of a boring trope and whether you participate it in or not you have to recognised that is is often used against women. And a non negligible amount of women do care about clothes designer or not lol. Anyway just ramblings
The part where they mention that Carrie and Big are moving into their new apartment the day of their wedding made me remember that we closed on and moved into our house the day after the election in 2016. I was a miserable zombie on a day that should have been joyous. I do not recommend the experience.
There are many times in history I would have loved to live in NYC: gritty 70s and the birth of punk, or post WWII like in the book Breakfast at Tiffany's. Early this century is not one of those.
Punished Carrie Bradshaw wearing a diamond studded Versace eyepatch to the Race Wars meet-up.
Until someone pointed it out to me it never really clicked how much the dialogue sounds more like what a group of gay men or drag queens would say to each other than straight women. And the showrunners turned out to be gay men.
The unrelatable, cartoonish, frictionless life problem is the same issue the Fast and Furious franchise suffers from
I did not know about those letters and immediately got streisanded into googling them. Starts off not too terrible, but the moment he lets loose a little and starts getting into a rhythm it turns into "POV: you're a trans woman on Early 20th century Poet Grindr"
absolute banger. also extremely stoked for a slightly loopy 2 Fast 2 Furious episode
2F2F can only be viewed in a loopy state
Parody proposal for the world: Sex and the City and The City. The sexual escapades of four women in Ul Qoma, including relationships with men from Beszel.
Still find it funny that Mr. Big is also the bad husband in The Good Wife. He truly got typecast in the 2000s
Pepsi owns Lifewater and Evian Is the Veiled Prophet that Klan cotillion that Kimmy Schmidt was part of as a kid? The Trillbillies talked about it Speaking of Kimmy Schmidt and gentrification, one of the seasons of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt had an overt pro gentrification storyline. Of course millennial hipsters were irritating and scourges and had to be chased out, but Lillian the anarchist landlady had to learn that some gentrification, like expensive organic grocery stores, were actually beneficial to poor neighborhoods
Looking it up- I don't think it rises to the level of "Klan cotillion", but it's definitely on that side of whatever dividing line you use.
Oh Jesus Christ Abby, why?
I wasn't sure what this was referring to, but then I got to the end and also said "Abby NO!"
St louis slander....
Ok maybe some of it is warranted
This movie feels very evil. Everyone and everything in it is unpleasant.
The gay guy who wrote this show is the kind of gay guy who would have been friends with Ronald Reagan
He would have been Rock Hudson?
To be fair, I don't think November can take Abby to Mexico, she'll be assassinated if she steps foot on their soil.
I take this opportunity to suggest the Sex & the City porn parody, because the plot is unironically leagues better than either of the real films. The characters are even written better. The jokes land harder! I've no idea why, but the XXX parody is somehow a better movie than the real movies.
I feel we are simultaneously being punished and being given a hog treat.
considering the general character of the hogs, a treat and a punishment are much the same for many of us
I've been watching Psych which started in 2007 and it reminded me how heinous the fashion was in that era. At least James Roday Rodriguez wasn't supposed to be playing a fashion icon though.
Spiky hair and a leather bracelet. Did he ever have a soul patch? Corbin Bernsen was always rocking stuff
Mister Big is Donald Draper without the trauma rizz
Whoa, is that the city from 9/11
Oh what a treat! As someone who never watched the show, having an expert on is excellent.
I've never been so excited to hit the play button
