Merry belated Christmas and Happy belated Hanukkah to all!
Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season! 🎅
Working on Christmas night was so much fun, said no one ever. Sadly, we don't get a day off on Christmas and all. 😅 But hey, the holiday season is all about making memories, right? Even if some of those memories involve questionable office lighting and the sound of the cpu fans in the room.
Speaking of holidays, did you know that the ancient Romans celebrated Saturnalia, a week-long festival of merrymaking and revelry, around this time of year? It involved gift-giving, feasts, and even temporary social equality!
Winter festivals are celebrated across many cultures:
* Yule (Norse): Celebrating the return of the sun.
* Kwanzaa (African American): Celebrating African heritage and culture.
* Diwali (Hindu): Festival of lights celebrating the return of an avatar of Vishnu to his kingdom.
Does anyone else celebrate any of these winter festivals?
That aside, today was our last working day of the year at my IRL job, and we had our annual 忘年会 (bounenkai) - a year-end party. 🎉 It was a great way to wrap up the year and celebrate with the team.
