Soulspire Dev Update #27

Hi all! I have not forgotten this week's dev update! I'm also happy to report that all the animations are either done or soon to be done. :) What animations will there be? Excellent question!

At the moment, I have one very long fluid simulation (remember that potion from earlier?) that I'm going to be chopping into several parts. It turned out to be way easier to make that simulation be very long and everything I need happen sequentially (with breaks in between for cuts) instead of having several different smaller animations. I thought doing it modular-style would be easier, but with the way the physics works, there's no way to have continuity between different fluid simulations given how chaotic and random things are. So... One long fluid simulation has been completed and is ready to be rendered!

I've also completed three different versions of a jiggle/hair simulation. If time permits, I'll add another entirely new simulation, but that's a stretch goal. No spoilers about who/what/when/where/why, but you'll see soon enough!

Lastly, my most recent project has been fire/explosion simulation. It's still a fluid simulation, but with some extra stuff to make it look like fire instead of water. I've attached a preview of the simulation I finished today - just the fire, no spoilers about what's happening in the game. :) Fun fact, that fire simulation took up about 570 GB of storage, so once I have it rendered out, I've gotta clear some disk space. :P I have one more fire sim to get done tomorrow, and that should the easiest one to do; I intentionally saved it until the end just in case time got tight, but I'm right on schedule, so no worries at all about that getting done. I might even have time for that extra jiggle sim, but no promises!

Enjoy the sneak peek, I'll have my next dev log out on next Tuesday (because I'll be out of town Monday) along with another sneak peek!

PS - Special render survey is coming tomorrow because I'm great at scheduled posts and just realized I scheduled it for this Tuesday instead of last Tuesday, smh

Have you checked out BeFX? https://b3fxstudios.com/ I've used their plugins quite a lot, both Fluidlabs and RBDLab got used in Love of Magic/Morningstar.

I'm using Insydium NeXus for all my fluid/fire sims, which has worked really well so far. I will keep BeFX in mind if I run into something NeXus can't do. :)
