PsyAmb 157 - Dub Drops 2 [ Mix Download ]

Greetings !

Well, here we are again, rummaging around in the PsyAmb archives and pulling out another handful of old favourites that have somehow managed to survive the passage of time, several thousand listens, and my increasingly questionable memory. Following on from Volume One, this is another selection of what I consider to be some particularly fine examples of the psydub / ambient dub end of the musical spectrum.

There is, as you might imagine, no particularly scientific method involved in choosing these things. I listen to tracks, I like tracks, I put tracks in a pile. Occasionally I remove tracks from the pile because I have listened to them seventeen times in the same afternoon and can no longer determine whether they are brilliant or whether I have simply suffered some sort of auditory accident. Eventually, after several evenings of shuffling things about, staring at lists, drinking entirely too much tea, a selection emerges.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is that selection.

Ott, Pitch Black, Greg Hunter, Kuba, Vibrasphere, Androcell, Eat Static, Bluetech and several other fine purveyors of music for people who enjoy wandering about inside their own heads for extended periods of time without the inconvenience of actually going anywhere.

So, make yourself comfortable, adjust the lighting, and allow a little over an hour of carefully assembled psychedelic dub tunes to pass through the room.

If anything starts glowing, don't panic.

If the furniture begins breathing, remain calm.

And if a small man in a waistcoat, who happens to be smoking a pipe while riding a flying teapot emerges from your bookcase, simply offer him some tea.

As mentioned with Volume One, many of these older tracks are still available online, particularly through Bandcamp. So do have a look at the artists involved, explore their other work, and support them if you have the means. There are some rather wonderful musical rabbit holes to disappear down.

And a very sincere thank you to everyone supporting PsyAmb here on Patreon. It really does mean a lot to know that there are people out there who enjoy these strange little musical excursions enough to throw some support behind them. It helps keep PsyAmb going, and I genuinely appreciate every bit of it. Thank you.

Cheers,

PsyAmb
