Uterine Fibroids (Graphic Image
Fibroids are tumors composed of smooth muscle and connective (fibrous) tissue types. They are not cancerous nor do the increase your odds of getting cancer.
But they can be very unpleasant.
Size wise, they can be nearly invisible or they may fill the abdomen and weigh as much as a small adult (100lbs/45kg). Since they are composed of muscular tissue they are capable of contractile activity. This can manifest as intense pain and/or more bleeding during periods.

I had surgery twice to remove them. The first time in 2020 lap robotic myomectomy and this year an open myomectomy. My most recent surgery she removed 52 fibroids.
Wow that's amazing Is there any information on how they are formed or why? Also any information on if they can go away on their own? I remember being diagnosed with a small one When my boyfriend and I felt it but since then we haven't felt it till I'm wondering if it went away 😅
They do grow or shrink based on your hormones. Mine got bigger while I was pregnant then went back to their starting size.
I had only 2 internal uterine fibroids. But when they did my hysterectomy, my doctor found I had growths on the outside of the uterus. There were a lot that didn't show on the scans before the surgery. I was told I would have a vaginal hysterectomy. She found so many that my uterus was very enlarged and the fibroids were "little uterus'" They had to chop up the whole thing to get it out of my vagina. Weird and painful for 6 months later.
Wow! I had a hysterectomy due to fibroids. They removed a total of 59 grams of material (uterus, cervix and the fucking fibroids), but of course I didn't get to see any of it. I thought, based on the average weight of a uterus, that 59 grams was a lot, but 45KG? The fuq??? Thanks for the pic, Josh.
i don't know the weight, but i did get a picture of what they took out of me (i asked before i went under) permanent reminder of the hell i dealt with...
