Scandal Sim's Tumblr account is dead.

The 2024 concept I created of a Tumblr account called "Scandal Sim" dedicated to sending blasts to be included in the series was... cute! But, genuinely, it was not something I could keep up with, even if I tried, which left me feeling extremely overwhelmed. I will stick to creating blasts centered around the main girls and am always open to suggestions from you all!

It's just "San Myshuno" now.

No more San Myshuno, New York. It's too confusing. Same goes with calling Willow Creek/Newcrest "New Orleans." As much as I love adding these touches of realism, I figure I can add realism to the story in more impactful, less confusing ways. That said, each Sims world will still have its own headcanon, and each will keep the same vibe and architecture and culture as the real-world city that inspired it. San Myshuno will still give NYC, and Willow Creek/Newcrest will still give New Orleans. I'll also be including pop culture references tied to those cities.

Traits have been tweaked significantly.

I recently started my mods folder over from scratch (huge shoutout to my love Milkemie for helping me along with Sims 4 Mod Manager!) and unfortunately had to get rid of one of my favorite trait mods of all time that I've been using for YEARS but kept giving me LE's: VickySim's Custom Traits. This caused pretty much 95% of my Sims to lose at least one trait of theirs, so I had to rework some things. Here are the new traits of...

Kaya

Kaya's traits were once Nosy, Fashionista, Self-Assured, Barfly, and Hot-Headed. The only one swapped was Barfly for Clubber, a custom trait from Basemental's Basement Drugs mod. Her World Famous Celebrity aspiration is the same.

Kaya also has many reward traits:

Yuyen had the most intense change. Her traits used to be Chic, Music Lover, Insider, Lovebug, and Affectionate. Almost every single trait of hers has been changed, with the exception of Lovebug: Her 4 new traits are Fashionista (like her best friend Kaya), Socially Awkward (slightly confusing since her job is Simfluencing and being seen by thousands of people online, will definitely make things interesting), Neat, and Two-Faced, a custom trait by babybeesims. Her Soulmate aspiration hasn't changed. Her reward traits are:

Her reward traits are:

My GShade has since evolved.

I don't know what the hell went on with my previous GShade or how on Earth I thought it looked good or aesthetically pleasing; It didn't suit Kaya's gorgeous dark skin at all. I'll be using the personal GShade I've been using for the past year or so (a slightly tweaked version of Boho Dreams) and possibly a new personal one I created just for the series machinima that mimics that cool undertone, mysterious, moody vibe the original Gossip Girl has. Let me know which GShade you prefer in the comments!

Yuyen and Jaidyn are no longer Soulmates / romantically interested in one another and their romance bar, as well as all romantic sentiments, have been wiped. The Soulmates mod will be disabled for this series going forward as well.

Yeah, sorry, that was MY bad. I should've prevented the two from being able to fall for each other since the start. Though I have no problem with a messy, Gossip Girl-Esque friends-to-lovers storyline, I had different visions for the two of them that don't involve them being romantically involved with one another, and especially not becoming Soulmates. Yuyen also prefers masculine women, so her being attracted to Jaidyn, a highly feminine woman, is nonsensical.

Each character's Fame Level has been reset to Level 1 (Notable Newcomer).

I decided to start their fame levels over from scratch so we can really see what it's like and what it takes for a Sim to get famous from the ground up. I feel like the experience would be much more enjoyable for both the audience to watch and for myself to play. Speaking of fame...

Road to Fame by Sacrificial has been removed. Here's what mods I'm using instead...

Though I am a massive fan of Sacrificial Mods, I don't care much for the accelerated fame system in his Road to Fame mod, at least not for this particular series. I want the buildup of the girls' fame to be slow and enjoyable, but also challenging. I want them to potentially struggle financially and not do $20,000 worth of autonomous brand deals every 5 minutes. I want them to potentially lose fame for silly things and face scrutiny by the press. A combination of Sims 4 Get Famous, Grumpy's Iconic Active Modeling Career mod, ThatsSoJordy's World Tour mod, ElleSimsWorld's Better Brand Sponsorships mod, and a few others should capture my vision for the series.

Eco Lifestyle's Eco Gameplay has been disabled.

Remember when Kaya's neighborhood (the Spice District) faced unhealthy industrial eco levels and was allegedly being caused by Kaya herself? Yeah, that's some BULLSHIT. I turned that shit off expeditiously. Let's keep San Myshuno cute!

The series soundtrack has changed.

Goodbye jazz, hello indie pop and rock! The original Gossip Girl heavily inspires the new series soundtrack.

I've tried my best to replicate Kristen Bell's iconic Gossip Girl narrational voice while also keeping my own Solita Sims twist on it. Hope you enjoy it!

Kaya's brownstone went under extreme renovations.

Yuyen no longer has 2 million Simstagram followers; She has 20,000.

I don't know what I was thinking with that one. What's the point of making a character who is supposed to be an aspiring Mega Simfluencer... when she's already a Mega Simfluencer?

I've been more thorough in deciding which girls are inspired by which Gossip Girl characters.

Keep in mind that these are looser head canons; Each Model Simtizen girlie is their own character, but they do have similar personality traits to some of the characters in the original Gossip Girl. I mean, of course! It's a Gossip Girl inspired series after all.

Kaya

Kaya's scheming skills, occasional conniving behavior, and angry outbursts definitely mirror those of Blair Waldorf and Georgina Sparks, Kaya often getting herself into trouble by the swipe of her slick tongue, similarly to Blair. She can also relate to Serena van der Woodsen's party-girl lifestyle. Though she does lack the overall charm Serena has on NYC, relating much more to Blair's cold, standoffish vibe. She also relates to Blair when it comes to views on intimacy: As Blair says in Season 1, Episode 2, "Sex is actually kind of a big deal to some of us!"

Yuyen

Don't get it twisted: Yuyen appears very sweet at first glance, but in my opinion, has the potential to be the most sinister member of our four main girls (similarly to Georgina Sparks), and I say potential for a reason, because she's not quite there yet. As a socially awkward aspiring Mega Simfluencer, Yuyen can relate to Season 1 Jenny Humphrey, the girl who hasn't quite found her footing in the city, but will do anything to get to the top. She can also relate to Serena's impulsivity when it comes to relationships, sex, and her struggles with craving validation from others.

Donella, or Donna

I don't think it's much of a surprise that Donella is the most similar to Serena: Both conventionally attractive, both extroverts, both party girls, both lovers of men and loved by men. But Donella can be conniving when necessary, and she's damn good (and sneaky) at it, and that's where her similarities to both Blair Waldorf and Season 3 Jenny Humphrey lie. She happens to also be well-connected to some of San Myshuno's elite, thanks to her millionaire parents and long list of sexual partners, meaning she has loads of power waiting to be exploited. Someone hand Queen D a headband already.

Jaidyn

Jaidyn is the odd one out of the group: She is the least inspired by any Gossip Girl character and is more of her own Sim. However, she relates very strongly to Serena when it comes to love, sex, relationships, partying, and impulsivity. If there's someone in this series that is bound to piss you off, it may turn out to be Jaidyn.
