Mythic Update, July 2026
Greetings Mythicists! I hope your month is going well :)
Here are some things to chew on:
Micro Mythic Success Check
The editing phase of Micro Mythic continues with the One-Page Success Check chapter. This is Micro Mythic's task resolution and combat system ... it's a busy little one-pager! Edits include further refining the rules to make them even simpler, especially for combat. I feel like this set of mechanics has reached that very thin space where it's as simple as I can get it, and yet it covers any and all bases that might come up in a roleplaying game situation.
There are six more chapters to edit after this one, then the whole book gets shipped off for proofing from line editor Mel.
Power Reveal
If you missed it, the latest issue of Mythic Magazine, #67, is out and about in the world. It has "Emerging Powers" and "Conceptual Adventures" in it.
I especially liked Emerging Powers, because it touches on one of my favorite film genres. I just love a story about normal people discovering they have extraordinary abilities. There's a whole process to discovering the powers and managing them. Add in some mystery from the world around them, and you have an engaging solo roleplaying adventure!
That's what "Emerging Powers" is all about. You can find it here on the Patreon as a member, or over at DriveThruRPG.
At Least I Have A Torch
For your viewing pleasure, the above image is by Mythic artist Jorge Muñoz. I think he did a great job at capturing a dungeon crawl in progress, and without monsters. It's just two adventurers delving some place they probably shouldn't be delving.
I haven't placed this piece yet. It'll likely land in the next Mythic Magazine to accompany an example. If the image inspires you to write a caption for it, please feel free in the comments below!
Mythic Magazine #68
Work is underway for the next issue, which contains:
Fate Question Focus Table: Instead of asking Yes/No Fate Questions, ask Questions to a Focus table & Keywords.
Co-GMing With Mythic: Using Mythic with a group to make your GM tasks easier.
It's fun mixing it up with Mythic rules, such as replacing the Fate Chart with another mechanism. That's what "Fate Question Focus Table" does. "Co-GMing With Mythic" is an article that probably should have seen the light of day a long time ago, but it's day is finally arriving!
Issue #68 will be out by the end of July.
Happy adventuring! :)

I’m curious about Mythic Roleplaying Second Edition. As somebody who already owns GME 2e will I be able to buy just the RPG elements and have the MR 2e or will I have to buy the whole thing? Will GM Emulation be updated in MR 2e or will it be copy and pasted from GME 2e? Either way, since I will most likely want the RPG elements, I’m worried that the purchase I just made will become redundant.
Thanks for the question :) Mythic RPG 2e will contain the MGME rules from MGME2e, but in an abbreviated form. MRPG2e is a big book, so while it'll have the GME essentials from MGME2e it won't have all the variations and examples and so on, just what it needs. I would guess that it has about 25% of MGME2e in it. The way I look at it, MGME2e is the definitive GME book for Mythic. To be complete, MRPG2e includes what it needs for GM Emulation, but it's main purpose is to be the definitive book for Mythic's RPG rules. So, the two books work out like this: • If you just want the GME, MGME2e is your book. • If you have MGME2e and want full RPG rules, then MRPG2e will add that like an expansion book. • If you had neither and are more interested in the full RPG, but not so much in all the permutations of the GME, then MRPG2e is for you. • If you only have MRPG2e and eventually get more curious about GME variations, then MGME2e would provide that as if it were an expansion book. So depending on which book is primary to a player, the other book will be like an expansion to it. Since you have MGME2e, MRPG2e will add a lot to the experience and the amount that repeats is limited. It'll be priced the same too since I'm just really looking at the RPG material in it as what justifies the cost of the book, as opposed to considering it like two books in one.
I just bought 6 compilations and vol 66 and 67 from DriveThru... even thou majority of the pdf I've already got from previous subs on Patreon... call me crazy all you want, I am not regretting it
even thou that means I won't be able to continue subbing on Patreon, I guess... but I am so afraid of losing my files so I need DriveThruRPG to handle that part for me...

Another great torch scene is page 2 of Mythic gme2. The relief on the wall really captures my imagination; "Who is that character?"
"I can see in dark, she says. I don't need a torch, she says. Elves are such braggarts..."
"She walked forward, unaware the arcane scholar had just located the correct planetary alignment for the next ritual."
The seer leads the adventurer into the depths, guiding him to what he seeks. She never quite gives a straight answer, but her answers guide him all the same.
