Same Log 4.3 The Fly (Cronenberg, 1986)

I swear to god this isn't becoming a gross-out gore-hound flick kinda podcast.

You mentioned an audiobook of the Fly short story. I’d love to check it out, where can I find it?

This has hands down become my favourite weird/horror film podcast. I always take away something I didn't consider whenever you guys sit down to chat about these films. For example, it never occured to me to consider the transporter problem in this film. But yes, it make so much sense that the Seth that comes out on the other side is a new copy, and those implications are horrific. Can't wait for "The Thing".

Not only a fascinating and insightful discussion as always, but, good lord, those fly puns!

A very enjoyable episode as usual! There were a couple of laments for the passing of the era of practical effects. If that’s something you and the others are interested in, may I recommend Phil Tippett’s “Mad God”? It’s a real tour de force, if extremely disturbing– when I saw it in the cinema, the person in the box office actually warned me about seeing it, there having been so many people walking out during its run, something that had never happened to me before. I’m excited to listen to this one but I haven’t seen the film yet so I need to do that first. I’m glad you’ve been doing a lot of sci-fi. Keep ‘em coming!

I will say... it's a wonderful movie but it requires a high tolerance for gore.
