IDSG Bonus 34 - 'Dave' (1993)
In a very enjoyable episode, Daniel and I continue our series on movies about the US President, with a chat about Ivan Reitman's Capraesque 1993 political-romantic-comedy-drama Dave, starring Kevin Kline as a lovable goofball Presidential lookalike who ends up actually pretending to be the President, kindasorta accidentally pulling off a one-man coup d'état, enmeshed in the plots of the evil White House Chief of Staff (Frank Langella), and falling in love with the First Lady (Sigourney Weaver). Adorable nonsense. Crap of the highest quality. We had a lot of fun talking about it.

watched it too! never would have picked it up on my own, but you're right it's very well done, and good light entertainment without a lot of the cringey 90's tropes one normally runs into. and now i see why Kevin Dunn was cast in Veep! basically the same character, but younger, when he still had a touch of humanity in him.
