[Quiver] Cleric - Hunt Domain

The Gods and the Goddesses of the Hunt charge divine orders to their followers. There is much in a Hunt - a sense of peril, danger, entertainment, justice, or even revenge. The Hunt encompasses worshipers from all walks of life, united only by a single goal.

-----

I initially planned on releasing the Quiver as just a collection of items, but it didn't feel like a good compendium without actual subclasses. It was actually difficult to develop a whole thing based around archery - it's less of a flavor and more of a fighting style. Eventually, I arrived at the Hunt flavor, and I searched for a class for which it would fit.

The cleric progression is generally similar - a proficiency or minor feature at 1st level for flavor, along with a potent ability. The 2nd level Channel Divinity option introduces a strong single-use feature, and the 6th level feature provides a nice boon to fill whatever niche the subclass occupies. The 8th-level is always the same (Divine Strike or Potent Spellcasting), to boost cleric power, and the 17th-level feature is a nice, but not-too-strong capstone (because 9th-level spells are now available).

Within the Hunt Domain, you get:

  • Bows/Crossbows proficiency (of course), and a partial-martial feature similar in power to War Domain's bonus attack.

  • The Channel Divinity adds in a tracking component for hunting, and extra damage (though that damage is only half of that of the Death Cleric).

  • The 6th-level feature fills out the Hunt Domain's role with Dash/Disengage, though it also works as a nice buff for an ally who really needs to get away. I wasn't sure about the uses here, but I didn't want it to take too much from Rogue Cunning Actions or Revised Rangers' Fleet Foot.

  • The final feature is a simple improvement to the Channel Divinity, allowing for a snare-type attack (great for hunting), and a medium possibility of damage extension.

I really hope I could make my own subclass art one day, but drawing items is already hard enough! All in all, not bad, and I love the flavor! The College of Arrows can be found exclusively in the upcoming Aripockily's Quiver compendium, so $5+ Patrons will have something else to look forward to ;)

Really enjoyed this archetype. Fits the theme well, could easily imagine a cleric of Artemis built on this.

I found it odd we never got a Hunting Domain - and we had so many cleric domains released!
