A deep dive into testing a Party mod I’m creating

I’m entering my third week in Sunset Valley. A rarity. This past week I played with the Andrade family. And I have some pretty funny stories to tell.

As I test my opportunities mod, I’m also testing an early version of another mod: one related to parties.

So my main focus was to find out whether I’d finally get invited to a party this time. I can say my Sims received opportunities almost every single day, sometimes even more than one. Maybe there was a day or two without any, which honestly isn’t a bad thing.

I’ll skip the trivial stuff, because after playing for several weeks across different households, the immersive opportunities mod really gave me things to do consistently. And it was no different with the Andrade family.

However, after a full week of work and opportunities, around Thursday an alien showed up at our house and simply died at the front door. I received the opportunity to resurrect him at the lab and, of course, I accepted. He joined my active household after that, and I’ll share later what he ended up getting into.

On Saturday, I received my first invitation. Makes sense, since people are usually busy during the week. I was invited by the Hart family to a party. When I arrived, guests started showing up and there was a lot of flirting going on. Actually, the mother of the family was having an affair with her neighbor, while Wolf was dancing with one of our neighbors. My Sim was washing the dishes because I decided to prepare a salad, since the party host hadn’t made anything special. The funny part was that Monika, the Sim she was kissing, left the party shortly after my Sim autonomously started pestering her. But here’s the twist: she called Beau and invited him to the park. There, she basically gossiped something to him, which I have no idea what it was, while Beau’s wife remained at the party.

Side note about the notification: Hart kicked me out of the party saying “thanks for ruining everything.”

When I switched back to my Sim, I saw the dramatic scolding scene. I suspect she wasn’t kicking me out because I played the guitar terribly, but because I got in the way of her extramarital affair.

I decided it was time to go home. Remember the alien who joined our household? Well, he came with a skill: Mechanics. Since arriving, he’s been upgrading every item in the house for free. Another alien visited the lot, scanned a few objects, and seemed to be looking for the ghost. But he just left, while our alien kept upgrading everything simply because his needs were static and he literally had nothing else to do.

That was a short summary of today’s testing session. Throughout the gameplay, I also coordinated three protests. One of my other mods enables autonomous protesting, but every time someone decides to start one, I still have to approve it. Honestly? It doesn’t bother me much. I actually find it funny knowing someone is planning a protest. But with our future mod unification, it might be worth taking a look and figuring out how to make that less intrusive, if possible.

I’d love to hear what you thought of today’s story. By the way, the Immersive Opportunities mod will be available to supporters starting tomorrow.I’ve also just made our previous Immersive Opportunities post public. I hope you enjoy it!
