MODULAR WINDOW - BB
Have you ever heard the saying: “I’ll show you how many sticks it takes to build a canoe”? What if I told you that with just 10 pieces you could create 18 different window variations? And, of course, I’m being modest. You can actually create way more than just 18. Those 18 variations are only the examples I wanted to show you.
Now imagine what happens if I add just one new side piece with 3 height variations. And what if I add a new top piece, and then a new bottom piece… then you could basically combine the top of model 1 with the bottom of model 2 and the sides of model 3.
Do you see the madness this becomes?
The potential number of windows you could create just because of a single new piece? I get that the math might scare some people, but think of it another way: how many times have you found the perfect window, but it didn’t have the right size? Or maybe the dividers in the middle didn’t exactly match what you were looking for.
Just like I did with modular walls, my next step is giving you tools to build Modular Windows. I’m taking the power out of the creators’ hands (myself included) and placing it directly into yours: the player. This way, you can create unique window compositions even without any modeling skills, simply by combining pieces! What do you think? And you know what’s ironic about making your life easier? As a creator, I no longer need to worry about making a full window model. I can focus specifically on a single part of it! And the best part? With all these pieces, you can create windows in different sizes! They don’t necessarily need to be 1x1. They can be 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, and all I had to make was a single piece.
If this doesn’t blow your mind, I don’t know what will. My mission as a creator from the beginning has been to empower regular players so they can create extraordinary things and become more independent, creative, and powerful. Because I believe that by doing this, I might end up discovering incredible content that would never have come to life if a player hadn’t received that small spark of inspiration and started creating amazing things.
Of course, this approach is actually a concept I want to bring into my game. Right now The Sims 3 has been serving as a prototype to test and evaluate ideas. While creating windows here might require a bit of “Lego assembly,” I hope to make this much more intuitive, fast, and easy in my game. When I look to the future, I imagine nothing less than that.
This visual sample is just a small part of what I plan to release in 2026. But this set is closer to this year than you might think. Tell me, had you ever thought about modularity this way?

that is genuinely awesome! I think the most important bits that need to be modular are kitchen counters and cabinets , also I've never seen in middle version for a bed between a single and a double so it always looks like teens are sleeping in a bed that's too small but the double is too big. it's a bit of a weird ask sorry but it has been bothering me for years 😅
To be honest, I hadn't thought about that, but you're right! Modular countertops would be very welcome! I still need to figure out how to make them before I try, haha, but it's definitely something to imagine! Same for the bed, I'd never reflected on that, but I completely understand what you mean. Let's see how my modeling skills advance next year!
