06 - Perfect Son-In-Law

A few years ago, I had the thought that maybe once I've read every story, once I've felt every trope, once I've experienced everything I love about fiction, the experience might dull. Stories would still be great, but they would no longer be able to move me like they did when everything was new and exciting.

Someone turned Erwin's speech from Attack on Titan into a song. I stumbled onto that song just a few minutes ago... And I teared up. Attack on Titan was one of the first anime I watched. Since then, I've experienced many stories. And even now, I still haven't lost the ability to be moved.

Spotify - My Soldiers Rage

The Mentalist. I watched the show long before I was old enough to understand what it means when hubris costs you your wife and child. There is one episode where Patrick Jane is drugged and hallucinates a grown-up version of his deceased daughter. I recently found a supercut of this episode on social media. I stared at it for 10 minutes. The raw emotion in the one word "wait" broke my heart over and over again.

Instagram - Patrick Jane

I once saw a clip that looked like a snippet from an anime. Once again, on Instagram. It's about a girl who kills everything she touches. Apparently, it was a promotional video a game studio made to introduce a character. The clip includes her getting hugged by an old friend who is about to die anyway and who voluntarily chooses to embrace her to ease her suffering, at least a little bit. Do I even have to tell you that I cried like a baby? Hell, I'm tearing up just writing this.

There are more examples. Just one more to finish things off. Most recently, I reread "Spare Me, Great Lord". It's a Chinese web novel, and it's my favorite story of all time. It's genuinely funny. But it also has moments that move the heart. Just to pick one, that time when Lu Shu decides to embrace his identity as the ninth Heavenly King and publicly declares that he is heading out to war. Goosebumps... (I don't want to repeat that I teared up. Makes me sound like a crybaby...)

I love stories.

I love writing stories.

And at some point, I'm going to write something that's truly great.

Perfect Son-In-Law is progressing fine. Do you remember three weeks ago when I told you guys I had a mild cold? Yeah, that mild cold still persists. Last week, I decided to take it slow and not push with all my might for the next release. Maybe with a little less pressure, my body can cure itself more effectively.

The last few scenes I created for Act 6 have taken a bit longer because there have been a surprising number of assets I had to create myself. For example, a German cereal box, a package of coffee beans, and a cookie box design.

I hope that once these two lovebirds leave the supermarket, things will get easier.

Anyway, that's it from me. I try to release dev updates on Fridays, but sometimes I won't be able to, and they might be a day late :D

Face it HT!! You are STILL Human after all!!! Just like so many of us out here. A good story will tug at the heart of any human and one that holds significance in our lives will make that tug really pull them in. Been there and done that many times.. Point to this for me.. IF an AVN has a storyline that has depth on top of the adult content it just makes that much more for the experience playing it. There are some AVNs that brought tears to my eyes with the depth of the story behind the "artwork" of the game. I play those games over and over to keep that feeling and it never dims.. When something grabs at your soul like that, even in such an odd place to find it, it is worth keeping close.

Like Christof I was tearing up from the beginning of the post and by the end I was a wreck. I do not think it is a bad thing to get emotional over this stuff. I would certainly prefer that to apathy. There is also no rush for me. After all this time you know I am not going anywhere 😉.

Man... you even make me tear up by just reading your post... I lately see short vertical deamas on instagram... captivating and very heavy on my tear glands... I know exactly what you are talking about. About your progress... you already warned us that you will not make the deadline... so please don't sweat it, your health is more important than we greedy bastards are. Please take your time. I know every project which is done in happiness and good health outshines anything else! Gute Besserung!

I haven‘t forgotten about your special render request, by the way. I just want to finish the Stacy path of Act 6 before I move on to anything else.
