I have my Discord Account back

Short summary. I finally managed to gain access to the Discord Account that has been compromised almost three weeks ago. It was wiped clean and my old Server seems to have been deleted.

I secured the account and created a new server:

Now if you are curious about the long version, then feel free to read on. I mostly write this to get it off my chest.

A bit over two weeks ago I was messaged from the account of an old aquaintance. I knew him as a fellow developer. He asked me to test his new game. Since he tested one of my games previously, I agreed to do so.

Once I ran the game (an .exe that i downloaded from a professionally looking game website), it looks like a hacker stole my current Discord session. This alone wouldn't be too big of a problem. He could do stuff like message people, and try to steal my server, but in the end I could quickly regain controll over my account.

The hacker didn't just steal my current Discord session, but he also got access to my email account. That way he could do a bunch of stuff that made it really hard to for me to recover my account.
- He changed Email and Password of my Account
- He created a Discord Support Account for my innitial Email Address
- He created a new Discord Account with my Email Address
- And he opened a Support Ticket on the new Discord Support Account claiming there had been a hack

So when I tried to recover my Account, the first thing Discord tells you is that you need to submit a request from a Support Account associated with the same Email Address that the Account that was stolen was associated with.

^^ I couldn't do that because the hacker already made this account and secured it with two factor authentication.

Discord had to sort this issue out by hand. At this point I was very understanding. They had a big mess on their hand and automated AI Support responses wouldn't do it.

Eventually my Account was shut down. Awesome. It took over a week, but at least the hacker wouldn't be able to spread their virus using my identity.

Wrong.

The hacker still had admin rights on my Server and over Estern tried to spread their hack even further.

Shortly after it seems like they deleted the server alltogether and SOLD my account for 60$ to some guy. I saw his complaints in my DM's once I got the Account back saying that he has lost access sometime after eastern.

Anyway, that's what I think the hacker did. Now my side. I secured my Email Account because through sheer luck, the Hacker didn't change the password there. If he did, I would have been fucked. After a week I got the Discord Support Account that the hacker made. I needed that so I can submit a request to retrieve the account that was stolen from me.

After a week of waiting, Discord gave me my account back. IT WAS THE WRONG FUCKING ACCOUNT. Because the hacker made an Account using my Email Address after stealing my HighbornTiger account, Discord Support just hit a button and gave me back the account the hacker made.

And now, almost another week later, I finally got my real account back.

... Just to find that it was wiped clean and sold to some guy called charisma.

A Foreign World is soon to be fnished, and a new project is already in production. The hacker fucked me up good, mainly because my account wasn't properly secured. Now it is. Lesson learned. Time to move on :D
