Friday Update - October 30th, 2020
Happy Halloween, true believers!
Let's just start with the bad news and get it out of the way; my new computer is not up-and-running as I thought it would be.
Well, technically it is. You see, I received the machine on Tuesday, as per the estimated date - but the RTX 3080 video card was defective. The RTX 3080 video card that just so happens to be the entire reason I was buying a new computer in the first place. I called the manufacturer immediately, and they were quick to help me troubleshoot the issue, determine that I needed a new video card, and said they'd be sending a replacement. Brill!
And that's the last I've heard from them. They won't reply to my e-mails to even let me know when they'll be shipping the new card, and at this point I'm kinda wondering if they're just hoping I give up. Spoiler: I'm not. I'm going to give them until tomorrow to reply before I do what I can to make their lives hell until they fix the problem. I've tried to be nice and patient, but they gave me a defective product and I need it to be corrected!
So what does this mean? Thankfully, in terms of the Mythos release, it doesn't really mean a delay just yet - it means that I still can't reasonably do any renders with more than one character. I can still write the story and the code, and I can still render simpler scenes (like Lisa's grave above). But you and I both know that this is an adult game, and there's gotta be some scenes with two characters, um... interacting. And the sooner I learn how to render those scenes - and hopefully animate them! - the better.
Playing from the beginning of the game, I have roughly 45 minutes of game done - that's renders, script, and code. Bear in mind that most of the beginning parts of me creating Mythos was learning Daz and Ren'Py, implementing the special code bits (yay, Lorebook!), and talking to other Devs. Every spare moment I have is still being poured into the game. Hell, the whole reason I even bought a new computer was for Mythos! Hopefully you can be a patient bunch.
Tomorrow is Halloween, and you're invited to the Mythos Halloween Party! No, I don't want you actually coming to where I live. COVID-19 is still a thing, stay away from me! But the Mythos girls will be sporting their Halloween costumes, so check back here tomorrow to see how they celebrate! (Patrons have already gotten to attend the Halloween party earlier this week)
Next week I plan to post a preview on the Lorebook system and what it means in terms of gameplay. After that, there'll be some more infodrops - character interviews, setting information, and whatever else I feel like talking about without spoiling too much of the story for you all.
Until next time, keep the spoooooky legends alive!
- Teri ♥
