Friday Update - October 23rd, 2020
Why, yes, I know this Patreon just went live last night, but I plan to give updates on the state of the game every Friday. I'm not going to slack off on that just because the announcement is one day old!
That's the first shot you see in the game (assuming you pick the female main character, of course). I thought it would be a good screenshot to pair with the first update. If you choose to be a dude, you'll be seeing this, instead:
Cheery!
Once the first chapter is released, these weekly updates will be for Patrons Only - for now, I'm keeping them free to view. Don't worry, Patrons - there's some Patron-Only content planned for pre-launch!
It's very difficult for me to pin down an exact date or timeframe for when we can expect Chapter One to launch. For starters, this is my first time making a game. While I have a story already done, there's still a matter of coding, rendering, and post-work to put it all together. That being said, I expect future releases will come more quickly, as learn and refine my processes.
Currently, my rendering capability is limited; my system is a bit weak to do everything I need it to do, so all the renders I've been making so far are the "simple" ones with a single character and a non-complicated setting. I tried to render a scene with grass last night and I think I could actualy hear my computer begging for the sweet release of death. The good news, however, is that my brand new PC should be shipping on Monday, arriving Tuesday.
For progress, I've managed to get almost the entirety of the first three scenes of Chapter One rendered, and almost as much coded. Most of my work has been basically learning Ren'Py/Python and Daz. From there, I had to work in the code for the Lorebook (which will be described in depth in a future update!) and have all of that looking the way I wanted it to.
Basically, every moment I have where I'm not working or sleeping has been poured into Mythos. The support I have for the project has already been fantastic, so I'm doing everything I can to make sure I won't let you down.
Until next time, keep the legends alive!
