FMLA = Family Medical Leave Act. can't lose your job over medical absence, up to a point. if it goes on long enough, they can reassign you, and if it goes on even longer than that, they can terminate, but it takes a lot. shoulder recovery should allow her back to work in 2-4 months, depending on what her job requires of her. i've had 2 surgeries, so far, though to my off hand side, and, as long as she doesn't have to lift or move large objects, she can probably go back to work after a couple of months of rehab, just needing time off for rehab appointments, until all are done. tell her to be VERY diligent about doing exactly what the PT and the ortho say. my second go around, i blew it out again, within 3 months(before rehab was even done). not fun. hopefully, the pain meds will help her manage, during rehab. remember to take something BEFORE going for an appointment or seeing the PT. you don't want to be playing catch up with pain meds. it isn't an enjoyable experience. hopefully, all went well with the surgery and all will go equally well with rehab. and just fyi, even when it's your off hand, it messes with you more than you expect. i was just thankful i didn't own a standard transmission vehicle anymore, with mine, being left handed and having right shoulder surgery.
my right arm goes completely dead sometimes. it's fun
