this really sucks. make sure she follows the instructions of the PT/OT, and her doctor, after the surgery. i've had 2 shoulder surgeries, myself, and, if i was able, i'd be having a 3rd. in my case, the rotator cuff wasn't torn, for the first two, though the labrum is a mess and the biceps tendon is partially torn. hopefully, her doc will get things taken care of and those of us capable can help out at least until she's back to work and you can get back to semi-normal life. just take it easy on that arm and rest as much as possible, for her. you'll be surprised about how she'll be able to adjust to using her off-hand, more, for some things. even if it doesn't happen, though, she'll get through this and back where she needs to be. just don't do anything silly, like i did. after the 2nd surgery, it was about 3 months before i was right back to where i had been before the surgery. just go easy and stick to instructions. and here's hoping she can make good use of the good pain meds.

Had rotator cuff surgery--no lifting with that hand/arm for a month. Also want to be cautious to not hurt the other arm trying to compensate.
