Introducing the Etoile Circle Skirt
The Etoile skirt is a full skirt constructed in 16 gores, with zigzag seaming creating an eight-pointed star. Perfect for the festive season or cocktails!
This skirt was inspired by vintage examples I’ve seen using contrasting textures in a monochomatic colour scheme (such as my velvet and taffeta version), but would look equally fabulous in two-tone, or a combination of print and plain fabrics.
This is a deceptively easy sew since all the seams are straight lines - the only technical part is getting the points to line up!
*Update* The original tiled file didn't include the waistband pattern piece - I have replaced it with a new file including the waistband (pages 15-19)

I absolutely LOVE this skirt pattern. What is the finished length measurement?
I'm about to make this skirt but I'm having some issues with which sizes are which. In the instructions, the size chart is listed as 26 - 42 (waist) with US/UK equivalents as 4-20 / 8-24. The tiled pattern has sizes from 14-30, with no finished measurements. I have to print in black and white, so I can't just print and measure. Can someone help me out here? I'm trying to do a 34" waist.
Hi, what length zipper is recommended for a separate skirt?
I usually use a 8-9" zipper for skirts so I can easily get them over my hips (rather than having to get into the skirt head first!)
Is there no front page drawing on this pattern? :)
Of course - thanks for the reminder! I've just added it.
Hi, and Happy New Year. I printed the tiled file to begin my make. The file contains 14 pages and does not include the pattern for the waistband. The instructions say that it should include the waistband. Would you supply the waistband pattern tiled file please? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for letting me know! I've uploaded the updated file. Happy sewing!
Hi, I'm a new Patron to your channel. I can't find the recommended fabrics for this pattern on the instructions. Are they listed elsewhere please?
I didn’t include fabric recommendations on this one, but I would recommend a medium-weight stable woven with a bit of body such as cotton sateen, quilting cotton, cotton velvet, taffeta, jacquard etc. Hope this helps!
Thank you for creating and sharing this amazing pattern with us. I can't wait to it up. But I am a bit confused by the sizing the table in the instructions has 3 sizes listed, what size is the one on the pattern as the pattern seems to start from size 14, is this US or UK as the size at the top of the table in the instructions starts from 26? Sorry if this is explained somewhere and I have missed it.
Apologies for the confusion! My normal size chart runs from 14-30, but I've just realised I gave waist size instead of dress size in the size chart - I've now updated the size chart to match the sizes given on the pattern, and re-attached the instruction file.
Perfect timing! I was a bit bummed last month as I am probably the one person on the planet who does NOT like a button up type of bodice, but I was about to try the Gertie starburst skirt and this one is so much better, IMHO. Those deep gores are going to look so much better on me! It's gorgeous! YAY! Thank you!
Yay, I'm so glad you like it! I try to vary the style of patterns to make sure there's something for everyone, even if one month's pattern isn't your thing :)
oooohhhhh did you play with the direction of the velvet pile on this one? gorgeous!
I aligned the nap of the velvet to the directional arrows on the pattern, so it radiates out from the centre and gives different effects when the light hits it ☺️
So cute! Excited to make one! Thank you
Yayy! Have fun!
Gorgeous
Thank you! I can’t wait to make one of these skirts 😍
