Introducing the Escapade Dress
The Escapade Dress is inspired by classic 1950s and early 60s summertime chic; the name is a nod (and a wink) to the effortless glamour and mischievous charm of golden-era stars Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren.
The fitted midriff flatters your waist, while the wide scoop neckline is framed by gathered straps with neat tab details.
The tab does double duty - decorative on the outside, but incorporating an internal press stud to anchor your bra straps. It’s an authentic vintage detail borrowed from a 1950s original in my friend Bee’s collection.
Customize your Escapade with two skirt options: choose the tiered skirt for ultimate volume, or the more understated half-circle skirt that skips the gathers. You can also mix and match the bodice with your other skirt patterns to further expand the options.
Sew it up in bold florals, vibrant novelty prints, or sweet broderie anglaise - use the scalloped trim to skip hemming and save more time for frolicking!
Are you ready for a summer Escapade?
Note: There is an error in the instructions with the half circle skirt only - I changed my mind about the grainline for the skirt during development, and there are conflicting instructions on the pattern pieces and booklet. I'm working on corrections, but I wanted to alert any patrons who might have already downloaded the pattern as soon as possible. I'll make another update once this has been done.

Love the new pattern! But I really wish the line drawings of the pattern showed a back view.
Thanks for the feedback!
Another beautiful pattern and so everyday wearable. I haven't come across one of your patterns that I haven't wanted to make. Love the bra strap anchors. I find strapless bras a bit uncomfortable so always a win win when I can wear my regular comfy bra. Thanks for your hard work Charlotte ❤️
That’s so lovely to hear, thank you! 🥰
Perfect little summer dress!! I love the bra anchors and the wider straps - details I need because I’m not comfortable going without. Another gorgeous pattern! Many thanks! 😍
Same! If a dress requires a strapless bra, it's not going to be in my daily rotation - and generally, if I'm taking the time to sew it, I want to get the wear out of it!
Love it - sew bra friendly too! 💖
Bra-friendly is a priority for me - otherwise it's just not going to get worn day to day! (I make an occasional exception for halternecks, which at least I can wear a convertible bra with)
OMG, yes!!!! I will be printing this one off today and cutting by this afternoon.
Amazing! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I LOVE it.
Yayyy I’m so happy!
Oh, this is perfect! And one great thing about it being winter where I am is that by summer I might have actually made it...
Haha I’m kind of the same, it often takes several months for a sewing plan to actually come to fruition 😆
That’s so so pretty Charlotte !!!! xx
Thank you! It’s already become my summer staple!
