Introducing the Miramar Dress
I'm thrilled to introduce our pattern for June, the Miramar dress. Miramar is a playful, sleeveless sundress with a sweetheart neckline and a classic fit-and-flare silhouette, based on an original design from the late 1940s.
The name, meaning “sea view” in Spanish, evokes morning strolls on the promenade, breakfast on the boardwalk, and sunset walks along the beach.
Gathers at the empire waistline provide fullness through the bust, while the comfortable, figure-skimming princess lines fan out to a sweeping hem, creating an easy, balanced silhouette with just the right amount of swish.
Make it as part of a matching set with an overblouse or bolero layer - the Miramar dress will partner well with the Calypso blouse or Weekender bolero - and look out for the matching Miramar bolero, exclusive to Aficionado patrons, to follow!
This is a fairly quick and straightforward make (once you’ve got past the right-angled seam joining the front to side front), with a clean finish on the inside thanks to the all-in-one facings.
Miramar is sure to be a summer staple!

@Tuppence Ha’penny quick Q please. 🙏 Are any of the notches where the waistline is? Because I’m thinking I’d love to also make this as a skirt… I’ve some linen that I want to make a gored skirt with as apparently (with some underlining) that will help reduce wrinkles.
There's a line of small circles at the natural waistline on all pattern pieces. You could also take a look at some of the other gored skirt patterns I've published including the Cafe Culture dress (slimmer than this one), the Home Front skirt (I haven't compared), and the Daytripper dress (fuller than this one).
How fun! A quick bra question: is it meant to be worn out with the pink/beige bra in the orange dress without the bolero or was that more a demonstration of how low the back is? I'm not quite hep to the jive if you will lol
The bra isn't actually meant to show 😳😳 - my bra band rode up my back a bit and I didn't notice until after I'd taken the photos and didn't want to photoshop it out - I figured it didn't matter too much! The photo is just meant to show the back.
Lovely! 🥰
One of the many things I love about your patterns is that you never cut the neckline to low. I never wear strapless or strappy dresses because I don't like showing a lot of flesh. You always get it right with your designs. Love that I will be able to wear my regular bra with this. Love this sundress so much 💝
Aww that’s really great to hear! 🥰 I’m the same, I prefer to wear my normal bra as much as possible, and I also want my clothes work hard - if I’ve spent time making something I want to get a good amount of wear out of it! So I try to ensure sufficient coverage to allow for bra/work/comfort (with the occasional exception for a halter top, which I also love)
Oh I love this 🥰
Oh that's so great to hear!
I just printed it! Now to decide what fabric to use.
Woo!
YAY! And great for color blocking, too!
Yes you could have some fun with colour blocking!
Love a good sundress, especially when it has wider straps. Great for a summer work-to-play dress.
Yes! It's so comfortable - I've worn mine to work already (before the summer weather turned back to winter here in the UK lol)
OMG, not only do I love this dress because I love an empire line! 💖 Great for those of us with a long torso… It’s also the perfect dress for me to make having put on weight recently and be able to take it in over those Princess seams when I reduce again! 🤩👏
