the mustang thing bothered me a lot at first, but i think the difference between this and killing lust was that this instance he’s filled with Wrath and just trying to make envy suffer. and since he’s supposed to replace the current furher, who is the embodiment of Wrath, him doing this would essentially put him on the same path as the old furher, symbolically. it probably could have been done better, but i think i get what they were going for. “is that the face you’re going to wear when you lead our country” is directly asking if he’s just going to become another embodiment of Wrath like the current leadership

In defense of Mustang not killing Envy, it isn't a great look for the new Fuhrer to START his term with a fresh war-crime (extra-judicially executing disabled combatants who no longer pose a threat), especially out of raw anger and emotion. Far better he prove that he can keep himself calm and rational rather than indulging his anger. This country has been literally steered by Wrath for the last who knows how long, they're really aiming to BREAK that cycle.

The thing that always gets me with this fight and other similar fights is that if the villain just learned to STFU for a minute then they would win lol 😭😂
