Small Updates, Big Buttons, and One Very Lazy Shortcut 😄
Hey friends!
Today I shipped a bunch of small (but mighty!) UI improvements to the site, and I wanted to share what I’ve been cooking lately — straight from the developer’s kitchen, where coffee is strong and feature ideas appear at 2 a.m.
1. A New Button Has Appeared: Guest Tour 🧭
There’s now a shiny “Guest tour” button on desktop.
It’s mainly for newcomers — a quick walkthrough explaining what all those mysterious buttons actually do.
But hey, even veterans sometimes click things and think “wait… why does this exist again?” — so it might still be useful 😉
2. “Can I Download Just the Audio?”
You asked.
I nodded seriously.
I implemented it.
In the Download video interface, you can now download audio only.
No hacks, no extra steps. This is how it should be.
3. Learning Phrases, But Make It Fun 🎲
This one turned out way better than I expected.
I implemented a new learning scenario:
You filter phrases in “Common phrases”
Pick a specific page (pagination matters!)
And then hit Random phrase (the dice icon 🎲)
Only the phrases from the current filtered page are played randomly — so you’re not learning everything at once, but exactly the set you intentionally chose.
I tried it myself and realized:
👉 This is actually a very effective way to learn.
Then I realized something else:
👉 I’m too lazy to keep clicking the button.
So now:
Ctrl + Space plays the next random phrase
You can drill a very specific phrase set almost hands-free
The currently selected phrase auto-scrolls into view
And gets highlighted in yellow, so you never lose context
Focused learning, zero chaos, minimal mouse movement — my favorite combo.
4. New Languages Are Actively in the Works 🌍
I’m spending a lot of time expanding language support.
More accents, more voices, more ways to accidentally learn slang you weren’t emotionally prepared for.
5. Kids & School Domains (Because Not Everything Should Be R-Rated) 👶📚
I’m building two special domains:
Kids — for very young learners (G-rated)
School — for teens and students (PG-13 and below)
I also added:
A “hard / offensive” filter
Extra checks for bad language that sometimes sneaks into PG-13 content
And yes… I even ran AI nudity detection (just in case)
Result: clean, safe content for kids and schools — no surprises, no awkward explanations.
6. Mobile Subscription Experiments 📱
I’m also working on an alternative subscription flow via mobile apps.
Still early, still experimenting — but this should make supporting the project much smoother on phones.
That’s it for now!
Lots of small changes, but together they make learning smoother, faster, and more fun — which is exactly the goal.
As always: thank you for supporting the project 💛
Back to coding (and occasionally pressing Ctrl + Space like a maniac).
