🔥 Vocabulary Just Leveled Up — And This Is a Big One
I’ve just shipped a major update to Vocabulary on Playphrase.me — and this one fundamentally changes how words are explored and understood.
🧩 Multiple Meanings. Multiple Parts of Speech.
From now on, every word can have multiple meanings, each tied to its part of speech.
Nouns, verbs, adjectives — no more mixing everything into one vague definition. Each meaning stands on its own.
To support this, I added a new Definitions block, where all meanings are clearly listed as concise descriptors. This makes it much easier to understand what exactly a word can mean — and in which contexts.
🌍 Smarter, Deeper Translations
I also tripled the number of supported languages.
And more importantly:
Translations are now recalculated separately for each meaning of a word.
Instead of one generic translation, you’ll see precise, meaning-aware translations, shown comma-separated when relevant.
This significantly improves both accuracy and learning value.
⚠️ Advanced Offensive Content Filtering
The old “offensive words” toggle is gone — and replaced with something much more flexible.
You can now choose between:
Hiding offensive words
Showing everything
Only offensive words (yes, intentionally)
This gives you full control, depending on your learning goals or curiosity.
📱 Mobile Support Is Here
Vocabulary and Common Phrases are now available on mobile.
You’ll find both sections directly in the menu, with layouts adapted for smaller screens — so learning no longer stops when you close your laptop.
This update required a lot of careful work — reprocessing data, recalculating meanings, rebuilding translations, and making sure everything fits together cleanly.
And next week, I’ll be focusing on adding Vocabulary support for other languages.
Thank you for supporting Playphrase.me and following this journey.
I hope you can feel how much thought and effort went into this release ❤️
Stay tuned.
