Project Update
It’s been a while since the last post, so I’d like to share what I’ve been working on lately.
New Languages
I’m expanding Playphrase.me to include three new languages: Chinese, Hindi, and Korean. This will open the platform to a much wider audience and make phrase learning more global.
New Actors
I’m also adding new actors to the database. To speed up and simplify this process, I’m building an admin panel that will allow automated actor management.
Current Status
That’s the current focus - scaling up the system and improving workflow efficiency. More updates will follow once these features are ready.

Video mixer function keeps producing empty files. What could be the possible reason? I just named the downloaded videos like 1. mp4, 2. mp4...
If you receive an empty file, it means all the videos you sent encountered an error - they might not contain subtitles in the correct format. There is an issue with French videos on the site - not all of them contain subtitles. Send me the files at info@playphrase.me, and I will check and be able to tell you exactly why.
I can't log in anymore through patreon, gives me an error.
I can't reproduce it. Is it happening now? Maybe there was a temporary glitch on Patreon.
Playphrase.me’s AI-powered approach makes language learning much easier, allowing users to practice without needing to attend English courses. I actively use the platform while learning Japanese, and it has been truly valuable for me. The addition of new languages is exciting, and I believe that including widely spoken languages such as Arabic and Russian would be highly beneficial. Best regards.
I agree, the program is very useful. As a student, it has been helpful for my French exam preparation. Mr. Evgeny, do you plan to add Russian or Portuguese in the future?
Great to hear that you're continuing to improve the database. Playphrase clearly is the most comprehensive service at the moment. The number of titles is astonishing. If you could manage to make the clips longer, preferably encompassing the full scene, that would be an enormous improvement and knock out any remaining competitor. And for the people who prefer shorter clips, it's easier to cut a video shorter yourself than having to remix separate shorter clips into one longer video.
I would actually like the option to pick a movie and then search phrases within that movie. So difficult to navigate this app I’m going to cancel my membership and return in the future once fixed
I will not add movie search. It is a blatant violation of fair use and will infringe on the rights of copyright holders.
So many issues on my end. Really well known phrases not showing up but random movies less popular than the one I’m searching for come up
The service is primarily designed for language learning. Therefore, I randomly sort phrases so users can get the most diverse examples. Searching for materials for digital creators is also useful, but I consider this feature secondary; making learning convenient is more important to me. If you want to search by movies or use other more precise search tools, it might be better for you to find another service. The risks are too high—I don't want to receive strikes for copyright infringement.
On my Xmas wishlist is the ability to watch / download the full scene instead of a brief clip that sometimes even cuts mid sentence. I assume the parsing at the moment is based on the subtitle file. A more intelligent parsing, perhaps with the help of AI would be a great improvement.
AI is used :) The subtitles are very inaccurate, plus I wouldn't be able to implement the word highlighting feature. I'm aware of the clipping errors; usually, I place such phrases at the bottom in sorting. I plan to make improvements in this direction, combining such phrases into one longer one. This problem occurs more often in series, where I used an older algorithm. Gradually, I'm improving it, and the quality is increasing. Very soon, I will go through the phrases again and refine them.
Could you add an online editing function? So we can just pick out the clips and mix them into one video without needing to download them. Alternatively, based on certain words/keywords, is it possible for your website to offer a set of video clips and combine them into a single video? i want to use it creat some short movie ,or some like that?
To combine videos from a single search query into one, you can use mixer.playphrase.me
Hello, your site is very nice, I wish you success, it would be nice if people could paste all the words they don't know, for example 100 words, at once and have a filtering system where they can specify how many videos they want to see in the queue for each word. For example, 100 words, 10 videos each, so a total of 1000 videos would be nice if people could open and watch them like they watch a movie
Yes, that's a good idea. I have a similar idea recorded in my task manager for studying words. I want to create word collections for different learning levels, and it will also be possible to create your own collections. I plan to add this after the New Year.
Hi Evgeny, Thank you for your great work! Could you please help check on my little issue? I made the one-year membership payment today, but I still can not unlock the limit of "5 phrases" on the website. It still shows "Sponsor status: Disabled" even though I tried to log out and log in several times. My account user ID is: Eric NGUYEN and my registered email is: duc.nguyen.ut@gmail.com. Thank you for your help.
Please ensure you log in with the correct email on playphrase.me, as this is a very common mistake. Log in to playphrase.me via Patreon and make sure the correct email is on your user page. https://www.playphrase.me/#/user
Thanks. When will you add new languages officially?
Omg! Chinese!!!? Christmas came early this year!
Webite's not working properly I think? Or maybe is a "me" problem, but I can't get the videos to show the translation when downloaded, it was working well a few days ago
Same. I had translations working as late as yesterday afternoon but it had completely stopped working by midnight.
Thanks for your work. I have a request. Could you please make it so that pornographic scenes dont automatically show up. Ideally there would be a filter to filter them out completely. But other options could suffice such as having to manually click to see it instead of it auto playing which is jarring.
I would be very grateful if you could send a link to these phrases. It may be necessary to remove the film if it is indeed pornographic.
