Piedra
The archaeological team rushes to beat the storm to Base Camp Piedra so they may begin excavation efforts.
This has easily been the episode with the most difficulties that we could not have prepared for.
We had to recast and re-record a lead actress in under 1 week. We flew over 10,000 miles to our live show, the Austin Film Festival, Florida, Maine, and PodTales. We pulled off a 2 hour live show! Protests in Chile prevented another actress from recording safely (delaying us 2 weeks). One of our other leads was unable to record retakes until Saturday morning before release, as he's in the middle of a 1500 mile move. -And because so much of the timing of this episode is specifically dependent on the voices (and I got sick on Saturday) we didn't get a full Sound Effect cut until Sunday at 11am Pacific, at which time our show's mixing engineer became violently ill. At the last second, the extremely talented Jeff Clement from the NoSleep podcast stepped in and saved the day! We just finished the final mix after a VERY LONG night of work.
We are extremely proud of this episode, not only because it brings us back on schedule, back toward normalcy, but because of its hidden complexities. The airport audio was recorded at four different airports in October, the bird featured in this episode (a "great grebe") was VERY difficult to track down, and hours of work went into researching & recording the very specific helicopter featured in this episode, as they are also difficult to find and record. As always, thank you for your patience and support!

Re-listening I now see why Simon wasnt thinking he was being hit on. Which btw, excellent use of "a character who just happens to be gay". It's nice to see it just there sometimes. I don't think I'm spoiling anything putting this here since he's already mentioned making a video to Ray back home or something to that effect.
I feel like Ava was also just trying to be nice and not flirting lol Lucas seems like a traditional(ish) middle-aged man and was probably reading into it too much
These guys started encountering the copycat really early. I call it "The Chameleon" in my head haha since it blends into social environments and sometimes I think physical ones and then messes with people
Glad you noticed ;)
This was definitely an exciting episode and very hard work audio wise
Where is S3.03? I see the outtakes from it, then it seems to skip to do 4.
Hey Allison, It took us a bit but we've completely redone Season 3! Thank you so much for catching this! The files are updated (we remixed the entire season, but particularly episodes 1-4), the tags should be a lot easier to find, and we updated the credits and links on a few of them too.
You guys work so freaking hard what the heck. I hope you can make it to dragoncon at some point. 😭
This story was awesome. I think it is very well put together and I could picture the events really well. The person in two places at once seems ominous :) It is really good that you were able to be mindful of the safety of the cast. There are some really rough things going on in places.
So excited that you're posting again, and very grateful that you take care of your talented cast in these extraordinary times.
Love it so far! very exciting
That was fantastic! Personally I like the themes equally. The season 2 version sounds representative of the geographic region it takes place in.
With that being said I'm super happy to be back listening to one of my favorite podcasts
and listening to it again I think part of the problem is that the main theme is drownded out or muffled a bit by the accompaniment instruments in the season 2 version where it's much more clear and distinct by itself in the 1 version
We totally get you! If you can believe it, this is a cut back version, because we had 5 or 6 extra instruments in the earlier drafts.
I'm going to make what might be a controversial statement. I prefer the theme from season 1 because it's so much more raw in my opinion this season 2 theme is so refined I feel like it takes away from the horror or mystery of the tune if that makes any sense to anyone else
Your perseverance under adversity is awesome! Loving this new season so much, I just wish I understood more Spanish!
We just posted the transcripts! :) We promise that none of the Spanish contains any real new information if it isn't restated in English!
You guys are so dedicated! Thank you for all your hard work guys! ❤️
Thanks for all your hard work!
I'm glad you've managed despite all the problems!!!
