Serenity C2 Episode 5 (Devlog 4)

Hello my friends...

Just a quick post to let you all know I'm still here, just been focused on the update. I am very near completion now. Just rendering the last 2 scenes, one of which is fairly long. I don't have a date in mind for the release as I do still need to go back and proof it and add music. I haven't even checked out new songs yet, so I still have a little bit or work to do. But that doesn't mean we're going another month... not by a long shot. This thing will be completed before the end of next week for damn sure, hopefully even a bit sooner.

During the process of rendering this update, I discovered (thanks to another dev) that there was something I could add to my HS2 build that makes things run a lot smoother and boosting FPS quite substantially. After doing this, wow... I picked up 40 fps on some fairly heavy scenes. Before and after results were very much night/day difference. Scenes still take forever to load up in studio, but moving around, posing, and generally working in a scene is so much better now. But I noticed (a bit late in the process) that shadows were doing some weird shit now. Rather than doing a whole bunch of renders over again, I found a way to correct the problem and continued onward. It was making these weird heavy handed shadows in spots that looked odd. I have no idea why this addition would have that sort of affect, but it did. Anyway, if you notice that weirdness in a few renders, just ignore it. It's as bad as it sounds and you may not even notice it. Only noticeable in a couple of scenes. Just another thing added to my list of things to focus on during the improvement phase after the game is completed.

I've decided that I will be adding 2 galleries... one 'instant replay' gallery and a separate one with a collection of custom renders that I've created during development, plus new ones that I'll be creating specifically for the gallery. These will be added to Serenity Chapter 2 at some point before the final episode (last update). And Episode 7 will be the final episode. For those of you sad to see Serenity come to an end, fear not. I am strongly considering a continuation of the series. However, you will play as a new MC which will be the son of the current MC. I've decided that if I do more in that world, I'd prefer to have some new characters - although we will surely see old characters appear. I'll tell you all more about that later (it is way later down the road). For now, once Chapter 2 is wrapped up, I'll be focusing all of my attention on Last Human and completing 8 episodes for that. Last Human WILL have a second season for sure. So that one is not ending just yet. The second season will be a separate game (separate installation) and continue from season 1 just the way I did with Serenity.

Outside of Last Human, my new game 'Princess of Chaos' will be getting some hands-on attention in place of Serenity. This is the one that is focused on Camilla from Serenity. You'll play as a new MC. There will be 2 love interests besides Camilla (harem of course). It takes place in the past before the events of Serenity.
