Preparing your save for the Ciudad Enamorada update
Hi everyone!
Ciudad Enamorada will become Ciudad Futura (The City of the Future) in the fantasy save file!
Wow! So much playtesting, collaborating, building and preparing for this update. I'm loving it though and cannot wait to share and play with all of you. There are two types of players of the save file:
1. Those who await my updates each time (when a new world is released with a new EP). These players will simply download a new save file to play and start each time from scratch in a new & updated save. (Update to the fantasy save file ETA: 15 September).
2. Those who have a lot of progress in the save file that they do not wish to lose. They update their saves with me: one lot and one "patreon post" at a time. See Partreon Collection: Grimmtosa (as an example of how we update one post at a time together).
If you fall in Category 2, you will want to read my instructions carefully, to avoid lot corruption and anything that might ruin your save file. PDF file attached for your reading ease.
If you fall in Category 1: sit back, relax, read for your information, but you don't have to do anything. You can find the latest update here! I encourage you to still read the update posts, since it helps orientate you to the new storylines and imagined gameplay for your sims.
Here are some things that will (hopefully) guarantee your success.
These steps might seem unnecessary to you, but this is the best way I have found to avoid lot corruption and also for lots not to revert back once you place families and start playing. These steps are optional; they are my recommendation to help you have the best possible experience. There are of course other ways to do it too!
Take out ALL script mods, since there are still mods that will break lots, especially if you change the venue type. We will be changing a lot of venue types for this update. After saving and updating your save file, you can have script mods again, but not while updating, please and not before backing up.
Go to OTHER HOUSEHOLDS tab and scroll all the way to the bottom - start deleting from the bottom row up. On start up, the game is already generating a bunch of townies (heaven help us all, this update is the worst I have seen yet). Delete them. Do not delete ANY EA werewolf families or it will break your Werewolves gameplay: . I will label households "Townie this" and "Townie that" if I suspect they have an NPC role. How to spot a randomly generated EA sim in Other households: they are just labelled with their surname / last name, no description - please be sure it is not an EA Werewolf family though!
Go to each lot (MAP VIEW) in Ciudad Enamorada. Evict the households in map view. Go to households management and delete those households.
Use the PDF provided as a guide. In build / buy mode, enter the lots. Delete them. Change the venue types before exiting to the map view or change all to "residential", then return to each lot and change the venue types as follows:
1. Vacation Rental: Caminito del Deseo
2. Art Center: Mansión de la Pasión
3. Residential: Laguna del Abrazo
4. Bar: Casita del Amor
5. Residential: Calle de la Promesa
6. Nightclub: Calle del Ensueño
7. Spa: Media Naranja
8. Residential: Villa Cálida
9. Residential: Avenida de la Eternidad
10. Cafe: Mirador del Amor
11. Restaurant: La Suite del Flechazo
12. Residential: Torres Amanecer
13. Residential: SUDOR
When you change the venue type, exit to map view after. An error message will appear because you don't meet the lot requirements. This is okey. This error will disappear once we start placing lots. However, placing lots where the "venue" or lot type is the same is more successful and will ensure you have a better result once you start placing the lots down.
Save and exit then re-load your game. Make sure the new venue types have "stuck". Throughout the process, it might be that you have to repeat the process of changing the venue type, unfortunately. This is the best way I have found. Change the venue type before ever placing the new lot.
Lot eleven and 12 will require you to meet the requirements (elevator & mailbox etc) before exiting to the map view. You may want to wait for me to release 11 and 12 first before preparing your save in this way. Alternatively, you can just place the items you need before exiting.
