State of the Game devlog
Hey everyone. Welcome to 2026. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday.
First of all lets talk about update 0.5. It's almost done. Just a few more days and I will have release dates to share. It's pretty big with just under 700 renders and a loooot of words. Probably about 2-3 hours of content related to the main story progress.
0.5 is a milestone update with multiple plot points coming to an end, and many more taking their first steps. Lots of new characters, old familiar faces, and big challenges are featured here.
Since this update is so grand, I have implemented some great changes to Oppai Odyssey. First, we got a new, awesome main menu with a selection of all your favorite girls. Second, I've implemented a translation into Chinese and Spanish for those that wish to play it that way.
Third is a bit of a rework for the first few chapters, focusing on pacing changes, more time with Zara on Idris, foreshadowing, and character growth for the Captain and crew. And with rework brings back a familiar face and mentor...
Ms. Saeko returns with 5 new events spread throughout the earlier chapters, to help guide and mentor our young Captain, while enjoying the tales of his "conquests." I really enjoyed writing her and Captain's talks, and I think they bring a lot of needed character growth and time featuring the main character.
I think 0.5 is a really great update and I can't wait for you all to get your hands on it!
I want this next section to be a little bit about the state of Oppai Odyssey, and I, Cryox the creator. This year has been good, and all the storylines are tying together in an amazing way. I am so excited for the future!
But...on the other hand, support for the project is down...a lot. I took a chance three years ago and quit my job to develop OO full time, and it was growing. It felt like that risk was paying off. Support since has been declining steadily, to now sitting at around 450 subscribers, which I am so grateful for each and every one of them! If 0.5 doesn't change this trajectory, I may have to slow development and head back to an old job.
I don't want to sound like I'm begging, but I am asking to you look at the projects you support, and think that, maybe, OO could use more, so the project can see it's end.
BLAAAH. That was hard to write, but money troubles are stressful right now.
What's next? I'm tightening up the Spanish and Chinese translations and working on the android build. My list of ideas for 0.5.1 is HUGE. I am already looking forward to pushing 0.5 out just so I can start writing all the great events I have planned! Expect the changelog and release dates for 0.5 within the week!
Oh yeah. Oppai Odyssey has a subscribestar too if that's easier for you. It also takes a lot less of a cut than patreon~ subscribestar.adult/oppaiodyssey

International payment methods are difficult to use in China. If you can open more convenient sponsorship channels, it may alleviate your financial pressure. You can try contacting the author of New horizon who may be able to help you open new channels. We will always support you。
imo, the issue is two-fold: 1 - People like stuff finished quickly, and OO is a big project. This isn't necessarily a fault of your own, it's just how projects go 2 - With such a huge project, people tend to get overwhelmed with stuff. I checked out the vndb page and there are 87 different characters, which is a lot. Imo, instead of a really big game, releasing it episodically could work better and keep people satisfied in the long term
I changed to Oppai Lover this once because I want to help the game. Sorry that I can't do more, but I really like this game and I wish you (the developer) the best
This is such an amazing game, I'm shocked to hear the subscriber count is decreasing. I've upped my support by one tier, it's not much but I want to support as much as I can. Hopefully with 0.5 things will pick up. I'm rooting for you!
I'm here to encourage and support you always. Even though my support may be small, I hope this small encouragement will make you feel better.
since it was created using Blender, why not release it on steam? there are some Chinese players who love this game a lot but struggle to find a way to support u. Maybe releasing it on steam would improve that?
love your work, i wish i can support you but the cost to make and maintain a visa global card in my countries is so steep per month so all i can give you is the word of encouragement
Can't wait.
I'll be the "far too honest, rude German" for you if that's okay. The reason I stopped supporting is that I felt the game wasn't really going anywhere anymore and updates were really slow and small. That in itself isn't anything too unusual in this space though, so it would've at least warranted a low tier sub, but then you kept telling us about all of the side quests you've been doing, the prints, the miniatures, Blender, ... and my overall feeling was that OO had become a side hobby to you and that's not what I subbed for. That's just my impression and reasoning, though, but I don't think I'm alone with it.
I understand not wanting to support because you think development was taking too long, but I have to object with your other point. posters and 3d prints is just something I did on my ONE day off day during the week. Blender is something I learned over the years also using the ONE day, and learning it has made OO's vast amount of custom sci-fi props and characters possible. You are very mistaken on my work ethic and hobby. I want to say that I'm not arguing or upset, I'm just defending against these thoughts about it in this public space
希望能整理好完整的剧情大纲,哪怕以后能出续作也好。现在的剧情感觉不同的选项有点不留后路,差异太大的话需要耗费的精力也多……
You are simply a superhero. Previously, I used to play Chinese versions that were translated by others. Now, you finally have your own Chinese text. Thank you very much for your generosity. I have been playing for several years and have been looking forward to the next update
My finances are sadly tight right now so I can't increase my subscription. But have you thought about releasing on steam? I know it's a long shot but some VN's seem to do really well if they have a steam release+Patreon/Subscribe star. I do hope that you find a way to finance the game. Oppai Odyssey is one of my favorite VN's on itch!
nice bro。good game
?:(
Your game is one of my favourites, and even with the low numbers you mentioned, I truly hope you keep making it, even if development has to slow down. You’ve convinced me to pledge and I’ll support it for as long as I can.
本作品绝对属于非常棒那一档的,不多说,订阅支持了
I've re subscribed bud. Love your work and the game. Keep it up, and look forward to this and many more updates
I think i am a paying sub atm, ill check i a min. I feel that money crunch! I hope things pick up for you and you can keep making this amazing game
I'm sorry you had to write a request like this - I understand how awkward it feels. For what it's worth, you've got at least one more paying subscriber out of it!
Yeah I'll switch as well to whichever one takes less of a cut from you so please let me know!
I thought Patreon and SubscribeStar took about the same cut. If it takes less, I'll switch my subscription over there when it's time to renew for my year
