Modding Diary - I finally got it to work + getting started on the runaway child mod

Hi guys! hope you all had a good week!

I finally made some real progress this week on the abandoned baby update and the runaway child mod.😭

so I heard many of yall want to abandon your own babies 👁️👁️, unhinged I must say but we are gonna make it happen. Parents will be able to abandon their baby by clicking on them and select "Abandon xyz". Only parents can see this interaction and no you can do it to someone else' baby, we are not committing kidnapping here 💀

This part you guys have already seen

now the baby is in a basket you can put them in your inventory and travel to someone else' house

Once there you can put them somewhere on the lot

and run away before anyone sees you

and when you take control of the other household you will have a baby waiting for you

And it took me forever and a half to get the correct sim shows up if you were to get a call for them. 😭

What I still need to do for this scenario is making the moodlets obviously. And I also wonder how should other household members react if their baby got abandoned 😶do they just get a sad moodlet or should they be able to confront the sim who did it, obviously this is a big deal and should they call the police on them 😭and send them to jail?! should sims have a chance of going to jail if someone saw them dropping off the baby?! lots of things to consider still.

Anyways for the next drama generator scenario I am working on a runaway child mod.

Essentially kids might run away if something major happened in their life and they become unhappy. Just like the abandoned baby one you can trigger it manually in the drama generator menu

and you will get a pop up saying they ran away. I dont have an image for it yet so enjoy this stick figure drawing

When a kid runs away they are literally removed from your household, and you wont be able to see them in the relationship panel to summon them so the stake feels higher

Adult and child sims in the household will all get a sad moodlet(6 different ones in total)

Adults can grieve together

there will be a custom animation for this interaction

And you can call the police to your house to take statements and put out a missing person alert. Later on you will also be able to post about it online and send out flyers to random people outside to try and spread the word, and maybe one of them will have a tip for you to find your child.
