Modding Diary - "you are adopted"
Hi guys! Hope you are doing well!
this week I worked on the interactions that allow your sims to tell their toddler and children about their adoption.馃き
You can tell your child they are adopted once they become a toddler, although they might not fully grasp what it means, they will accept their adoption without hesitance
Or you can wait till your child is old enough to tell them, they will have a harder time processing it and will be shocked by the news at first
Here is a custom animation for this interaction
You can use one of four interactions to reassure the child and help them process the situation
If they have not come to terms with their adoption they will respond with questions and doubts 馃ズ
but if you keep talking to them there is a chance they will change their mind, and gain a new perspective
and the parent will gain a moodlet knowing their child is going to be okay 馃挅
and you can continue to talk to them and offer reassurance to strengthen your bond
annnnd that is all i have for this week. I hate how this was a whole page of to-do list in my notes but it looks so little in a post 馃槶
anyways, next week i will work on the interaction that allows you to tell your adult children about their adoption, and I will work on allowing sims biological parents/family members to have a chance to reach out. I also need to figure out what Im doing for the foster situation if a bio parent is found 馃槚so much to do!

I love this idea. Another option you could add, is the parent tells their teenager that they are adopted and depending on how strong their friendship is with the adoptive parent, they will either react negatively, positively, or neutral You can also have them search on the computer for their biological parents (put it under the research category) and they would have to keep doing until they are successful and if then in a few sims days, they get a phone from a random number and they can decide whether or not to answer it, if they answer, it's one of their biological parents calling expressing excitement and asking if they can come over or meet them somewhere and the teen can respond either positively and agree to meet them or negatively and say no. It could really come together for great story telling gameplay. It maybe too much to do in the game, but I'm just throwing out ideas 馃檪

Should add an option for a sibling to tell the other one they鈥檙e adopted even if they鈥檙e not 馃ぃ馃ぃ cause siblings be sibling! LOVE LOVE your mods! They bring an element of realism to this game and I thank you for this 馃
question- when this is fully developed would it be compatible with RPO? I know theres an adoption module (in RPO) and was wondering if we would need to remove it or if the systems would work together, either way good luck and all the best x
