Filmmaking Deep Dive: Lighting 101
Jono may or may not have been forced to learn how we light the show, but sometimes you gotta put "the talent" to work. In this deep dive, we learn the name and purpose of each light that is used to make Cinema Therapy look cinematic. So, what did we learn today, kids? Jono is mechanically challenged, Alan needs a heat lamp, and ignorance can be solved!

A show I’ve been watching recently Dark Winds on Netflix it’s fucking AWESOME there’s scenes where it’s night and they’re shooting in the desert and the lighting in those scenes sometimes it looks like they painted the actors charcoal it’s gorgeous except the one white guy in the scene he looks like a freaky blue alien and sticks out which is on purpose and AWESOME very much recommend to anyone and everyone
"Ignorance can be solved." I would wear a shirt saying that from you guys, just saying lol.
I learned things today! Don’t ask me to remember it, though. 😭
"I BIG BRAIN" This was too adorable. I can't stop grinning. My face hurts! Jono = Me when my bf talks his IT professional tech jargon, and Alan = picture of patience.
So what your saying is, I can call you up Alan, and have you set up my lighting for my photography studio, so it actually looks good, and I don’t have to just pretend I know what I’m doing with two annoying, large cheap ass lights and two less annoying small cheap ass LED panel lights from Amazon. Oh wait…you didn’t say that…dang it.
Ok Alan, I wanna know: does the setup change when you have the rare third guest? Presumably you’d have a backlight aimed at the crown of the middle person…?
Oh! Also…can you make a video on c stands, grip arms, etc? I have a c stand I just set up so I can do overhead shots BUT the mount on the arm is too big for my clog camera. Guessing I need to measure or research bc I think it’s a standard 5/8”
That thumbnail reminds me of Titanic. How sweet. :)
AZEEEZ!!! LIGHTS!!!
Oh I love you two goofballs, Jono is like me when my boyfriend talks computer. This was so much fun, thank you for this little extra insight and for the bromance vibes #Jolan Videos like this or the bloopers video are one of the reasons why I love to be a Patreon.
My geeky little heart loves this stuff.
Ah! This is great. This is the kind of stuff I’ve always wanted to know.
I'm glad it's not just me! For some reason, photo/video lighting is one of my ND special interests. There need to me more informational videos in the world with the vibe this one has. :)
