Steam achievements - Results
Hey everyone,
The poll has finished, and the conclusion is that the majority wants Steam achievements in the game. This is what we'll be working on for the next few days.
We could use your help, though. Valeria already made a small list of achievements she posted a few months back, but if you have ideas for achievements, let us know. Tell us how the achievements will be "achieved" and maybe even what name it should get. You can either write it here in the comments, or we can discuss it on Discord.
If someone has experience with achievements and/or how to properly code them in the game, please help us out, since this will be the first coding task for us. All the coding has been done by Valeria up until now, so this is new for us.
We're thinking between 20 and 50 achievements. Some easy ones like just completing an episode, others where you have to do certain things or a combination of things. Once we are happy with a certain number of achievements, we'll need to create the little images, and hopefully, it all will work out.

Game looks interesting…can I start from the beginning of the game by downloading the latest release, or do I have to download all releases?

A lot of good ideas in the comments, mine are: 1. antagonize Dylan every chance you get (name something like Alpha Dog or something like that). Other ideas: 1. Romance Gabi (name My sex Teacher) 2. get a motorcycle (no idea for a name), 3. reject/accept Reachel, 4. staying/reuniting with Iris (sth like "First love never dies") 5. getting Emily and Brooke together 6. Staying with Mira 7. be on Elena/Layla trouple path (if that's possible "The more the merrier") 8. preventing Andres Marriage 9. hitting Andres ("Eye for an eye") 10. Catching Mike and Haley in the bedroom ("Curiosity Kills") 11. Hitting Zach instead of pushing him ("Payback") 12. some more with Zach 13. Lieing/telling the truth to Adrianna on every occasion, 14. Coding in Steam achievements in a Ren'py base is quite easy, you just need to include the proper achievement class that handles the backend with Steam. Then coding them in is just adding small calls within the dialogue and menu scripts (harder achievements to code are those related to persistent variables, but this depends on your individual code structure tbh).
Getting the Alexis jealous scene and having it be Mt. Alexis like a volcano.

Just funny, but also real troughs. "Cute but dangerous" - Stay on Val's path "Hit"man - Punch Ethan and/or Zach 5 times "Red Heat" - Make Melissa dream about you "Nyx" - Be first to complete a new Episode in Steam.

Will there be cloud saves? It's nice to be able to switch between PC and handheld.
punch Ethan X times but double achievement for doing it the second time. before you get the phone. also one for not cheating because of the massive temptations.
Good one with solo paths
Smarty Pants, Max out Good Student. An achievement for being faithful to each main girl path. Secret Path achievement, rejecting Tori 25 times. Dunce for if you have 0 good student points. Make an achievement if you train every time it's available, then the reverse. If you change girls multiple times, get the Kleenex award.
There should be a Creepy Ninja achievement or something like that for getting all the times the creepy old man randomly turns up
Gotta have one for finally romancing Mel. Also need a Lexis Mom one. And one called Trifecta if you sleep with Alexis, Layla and Lakeyn.

Something PaperTiger recently mentioned as they were adding achievements is that you apparently have to add logic when granting achievements to skip the grant if the achievement was already granted, that's not handled automatically. I haven't touched the code myself, but I'm guessing that if you don't skip it, it pops up duplicate toast notifications.
I want an achievement for punching Ethan 100 times 🤣
