UNCENSORED ACCESS: Transformers

OOOhhhh Charlie! We see you! This is the 80ist soundtrack that ever soundtracked. LOL.. My brothers and I had these toys and I wish we'd held onto them. Soundwave was always my favorite Decepticon because he had all those mini bots (which are cassette tapes and he transforms into a boom box lol) and of course Bumblebee was my favorite Autobot. I remember running around the playground as a kid playing Transformers. We took it SO seriously too! ha ha Also, I do hope you keep going and make it into the more recent ones, although the last couple aren't great.
Unrelated but did we have a Chuck Norris tribute watch??
If there are ever any girl power movie mondays can I please recomend. Charlie’s Angels, Private Benjamin and GI Jane. Love your reviews. X
Peter Cullen was the voice of Optimus Prime, but this movie has the least Optimus Prime of all the Transformers stuff -- this movie, specifically, was designed to sell toys. Many of the Transformers killed in the early part of this film were established characters that were also toys. To sell more toys, they made new characters, but a cast can only be so big, so they killed off others.
"'Til All, Are One"
If you get into the deep lore of Transformers, Megatron is the hero of the story. He's leading the lower classes in a war for equality, and in many continuities, Optimus was the one who allowed Cybertron to be destroyed.
You can't watch this! Transformers are for boys! You have to watch Care Bears!
The Audacity.
TL;DR: This was the Transformers movie to watch for Peter Cullen. I know it might seem like a disappointment to Ashleigh for her Peter Cullen tribute to see Prime die in the first 30 minutes of the movie but I really feel as if this was the right call over and of the micheal bay movies. I was only 9 in 1986, turning 10 in November. Prime and all the other Autobots dying was very upsetting to me but it also gave me Rodimus Prime which since it was clear Hot Rod was the new hero somehow made it okay. The Bay movies turned Prime into a pansy who couldn't stand up to Megatron, where this movie he may have died, but he took out 60% of the enemy including Megatron more or less solo. He did indeed have the Touch, he had the Power. In the Bay movies he might at best have herpies.
We were all pretty surprised at the death of Optimus Prime in this movie. Megatron too - the whole thing was kind of out of left field. Before this movie, the Transformers started as a line of toys - robots that could turn into cars and planes. Then there was an after-school cartoon that went along with them, and Optimus was indeed the "main character" of the Autobots. The story behind that show was that there was a civil war on Cybertron (the home of the Autobots and Decepticons) and offshoots of both those groups were fighting in space and crash landed here on earth. But they were here for millions of years buried underground and "sleeping" until... something woke them up, I forget what. As part of waking up, they scanned around to find new "native" forms for them to take, which is why they look like modern earth cars and planes (instead of their original Cybertronian alternate forms). IIRC, they were only known to small numbers of humans, at least at first. Anyway, the TV show was your typical after-school fare, an ongoing story but nothing ever really changed. New characters would be featured from time to time (as new toys were introduced), like the Constructicons and the Dinobots, and there would be big fanfare when that happened. And then the movie was like an insane fever dream.
This soundtrack is dope.
This movie took place between seasons 2 and 3 of the cartoon. If you start with the first three episode mini series of season one, it will answer alot of your questions.
