I hope we get Blade II and The Crow soon
one punch man
I love this movie, I can relate so much with the villain. And he looks like he's in a Black Metal Band which is totally my vibe... 🤣 Only thing I don't relate as much is the racism. I mean, the race of men.
Loved the reaction Nat! Like others said it's sad we didn't get the third movie. Guillermo del Toro had a third movie written and shopped it around for a long time. It was going to be a story with a theme about nature vs nurture with Hellboy's children and continue the story of the fae world and it's place alongside humanity. The Angel scene was setting up the third movie. Unfortunately the movie released not long after the first Iron Man movie and that was the metric which all comic book movies were judged. Universal didn't think the franchise could survive next to Marvel.
i also thought his abs were paited on 😭😭
I think Abraham moves like a confused ballet dancer, because he lives mainly in water. He's used to floating and if you watch aquatic species they always seem graceful in their movements. Probably due to efficiency of movement and energy, so moving like a ballet dancer makes sense, because they always give off the impression of floating to me.
I've always loved this movie. It's got great pacing, it looks amazing and it's a very creative, hardcore fantasy feature film. It makes me think about how great a Del Toro Hobbit movie could have been, which we almost got. Alas.
Would love to see you watch Guillermo Del Toro's animated Pinocchio. It takes place in 1930s Italy right before WWII and the rise of fascism. It's STUNNINGLY beautiful and has a lot to say. Nobody reacts to it, even though it's in the Criterion collection. The cast is also incredible. Ewan McGregor, Ron Perlman (of course), Cate Blanchett, Christoph Waltz, Tilda Swinton, John Turturro, Tim Blake Nelson, Tom Kenny (That's Spongebob!)... Genuinely a masterpiece. oh also it's stop motion animation. So like... REALLY painstakingly hard to make.
Been ages since I saw this one and found it just as great this time as the first one. The success of Pan's Labyrinth (and Hellboy 1) definetely resulted in a bygger budget and Guillermo got to bring his own visual style even more into this one. And it is a great fit for the source material. Personally I'd love to see a B.P.R.D. tv series And we can grant Abe a bit of romance; for after all as the prophecy goes: "Sunken bells are tolling for thee. Out of the caverns of Num-Yabisc, dark and terrible and deep, the ocean is calling her children... home." And in his own words: "Too tired...Do you hear them? Sunken bells...they are tolling for me."
Such a fun action flick with some all-time creature designs and creative ideas - the elves turning into wood/sawdust(?) when they die is such an interesting choiceee and weirdly satisfying to look at Also the Forest Elemental is one of my favourite creature designs ever. This thing that brings Life even in death… beautiful The effects, the action, the quips, and tje COLOUR in this movie… take us back!
i always loved this film. the visuals were so cool the actors are all great. the scen with HB and Abe drinking and singing is a favorite of mine. its a shame we never got that third film. there was also suposed to be a Prince Nuada prequel spin-off called Silverlance that would have shown him protecting fairy folk during his thousands of years in exile ending with him fighting the villians from the first movie to keep fairy folk safe during WW2 and having an indirect part in them being able to summon Hellboy in the first place
I like H1 but H2 is soooo much more fun. It's a damn tragedy that the 3rd film never happened. We were robbed! I’ll reiterate what Vodo said above, check out The Shape of Water at some point, on your channel or on your own. It’s a fantastic, multi-award-winning film and if you liked the Hellboy series, it’s got a lot of the same themes (belonging, love stories, etc.) and it deserves the accolades. Honestly I don't think Del Toro has made a bad film yet.
It sucks they didn't continue this series
Yeah, it's a dang ol' shame. I saw a video with Ron Perlman (I think?) and he said what the third movie was basiaclly going ot be about. How the first two films were SUPPOSED to be the start of a trilogy, and the thing they've been beating into our heads since the start was how Hellboy was "prophesied to bring about the 'END of all things." Apparently part 3 was going to have that in it, finally.
And if you read this Natalie - Doug Jones who plays Abe Sapien also played the Angel of Death, and the Chamberlain that Nuada threatens in the beginning. If you loved Abe and love stories - then please look into watching "The Shape of Water", another Guillermo Del Toro movie. Nominated for 13 Oscars 2018. Won Best Production Design, Best Original Score, Best Director, and Best Picture! Main character also played by Doug Jones. With BONUS General Zod!
I think this one is better than the first. The pacing is better, the choreography is better, the story is more dynamic and interesting, and the visuals are better.
Happy Friday, everyone! (re)Watching the first Hellboy for the reaction reminded me that I'd always wanted to read the comics, so I bought them ALL (just the "Hellboy" titled books) and read that this past week or two. Been hoping this would come along. Really happy to see it here, now.
Hellboy and with the Classic Natalie tie-dyed shirt. Been looking forward to your reaction to this one all week! After years of hoping you would eventually get to it! Thank you so much for reacting to one of my favorite movies, and thank you for everything you do for us Natalie. Big fan.
Happy Feature Friday Nat. Diving into this one after many years. A lot of people think this one is better than the first, which really surprises me. I love the first movie so much, but I remember watching this one and being hugely disappointed with it, to the extent that I don't recall if I even made it to the end of the film. I certainly don't remember a single thing about what happens in it, so it's maybe time for a re-appraisal watch with you today 😊 Post: I made it to the end this time. It was fine. I still think the first one is better. Maybe I just enjoy the villains more. I liked the interactions with the characters a lot, but we've seen the long white haired villain thing too many times. Thanks for your reaction today Nat. Have an awesome weekend trip 😊
