This show isn't that episodic later on. Spoilers would be very detrimental. Also, closed captioning is kinda bad for watching experience in general.
This is definitely a show with heavy spoilers. It's not always this episodic.
For people with original North America region DVD, the version she's watching has a previously on section while ours does not, just sync with the end of the black sequence of her version.
Please do the whole series. This is one of the best shows in the history of TV.
Never underestimate Xander's jealousy.
RIP Anthony Head ♥️ joining this for a rewatch, but thought you were way further ahead and I could binge 😭
Just saw the news that Anthony Stewart Head, the actor who plays Giles, passed away due to complications from Pneumonia ☹️☹️☹️ so heartbreaking, he’s been a favourite of mine for so long
Oh, no, we've lost another of the cast. Anthony Head has passed away😭
Angel will return in Avengers: Doomsday
Angel shows up now and then no worries
Really really hope you continue with this show as it just gets better and better. While the show does get more serious it still keeps it's camp charm and humour throughout in certain episodes. As for Angel yeah he might pop up again :)
Agree with others saying this episode is the first example of what peak Buffy turns into. Future seasons still contain monster of the week episodes but they become less frequent fun romps that run alongside the overarching story. I really hope Nat continues into season 2 as I’ve recently finished Buffy and the jump in quality between season 1 and 2 can’t be overstated. All it takes is the first few episodes of season 2 to have you completely hooked.
There is even a huge jump between 2 and 3. Especially with episode lighting.
So Angel was originally meant to be a one off character but Joss liked David so much he expanded the role he got the job because the casting director said to a friend she needed a dark handsome man and the friend recommended David who was a neighbor she had become friendly with as he walked his dog. That neigbour later became Davids Manager. Nathan Fillion originally auditioned for the role but dont worry still with Buffy long enough youll get to see him eventually.
HE DID BEAR IT FOR HERRR! The burn from the crucifix is so romantic in a way only a vampire drama could be 😅 Cats outta the bag! Our favourite lurker is actually our favourite vampire 😁 makes for a fun rewatch on the first few episodes because whenever Angel shows up during the day he’s never standing in direct sunlight! They kinda telegraph it a little hard with the “I’m older than you” but it’s still SUCHHHH a good twist (tweest) it still hits
Completely see Angel again. As others said, he becomes such a popular character.
I don’t think we should mention that until season 3 😅
12:09 "unless he's secretly 212"😏😏😏😏😏
I think this Angel fella will go some places. Angel Season 5 is my favorite season from the Buffyverse.
Angel is that rare show thats in my opinion better than the show it spun out of. i love Buffy and every season has worth but theres definitly a few seasons that are weaker in comparision. Angel after mid way though season 1 when it finds its feet (ironiclly when Wesley shows up) was consistently great from that point on with few dips. my personal favorite season was Season 2
I've come to appreciate and really enjoy season 1, but THIS is the episode that best represents what the shows grows into. Which is why I hope you'll dive into season 2 to at least get a feel of what the show is really all about. There's camp, but wow there is some powerful emotion and increidble character moments throughout its run.
So true. You can really feel this episode is setting the ground work for years coming up
As per your request, Nat, YES we will see Angel again.
"Is Angel coming back?" is the understatement of the year.
If you decide to watch Season 2 you'll get a whole lot more Angel. He takes on a bigger role. It's also funny the assumptions you make about the show. Just be aware that the show changes a lot over the seasons. As Buffy matures, so does the show.
matures to the point where those last 3 season are basically existential dread in tv show form. rewatched "that" episode (you know if you know) and was basically crying non-stop
You will definitely see him again, so much so that he gets his own spin off later.
That may be TOO much of a spoiler 😭 for future arcs
Happy Wednesday Nat. Always excited to watch more Buffy with you 🧛♂️
