FIRST TIME WATCHING: Attack on Titan S2E28

I loved watching your reaction to seeing ymir shift haha. you have no idea what you're in store for

Hi guys, does anyone know if Gravity falls was ever talked about here? That's a great show I really liked and something I think that Natalie would enjoy reacting to!!

i honestly think it shouldn’t be an issue watching it in english…… what’s the big deal? do we miss anything?

I think it would be really interesting if at the end of one of the episodes of season 2 you gave us your thoughts on the imagery and music of the ending credit sequence of this season, and then if you revisited the sequence at the end of season 4.

It's true that the translation isn't perfect and you miss some information in English that the phrasing in Japanese reveal. But it's really too much to bring it all up, and eventually it'll all mostly become apparent even if you only rely on the subtitles.

This show is so good at ramping up the tension like crazyyyy in the last 5 minutes, but the cliffhangers in season 1&2 in particular are killer 😭 I remember this castle tho 🫡 I remember…

Does anyone know if she's going to watch the canon OVAs?

I'm sure someone has already said this. But If you pick what season to watch you should see OVAs. I would love to see you're reaction to the EP: NO REGRETS. its a prequel of how Levi became a member of the survey core

The show is meant to keep you in the dark. You're piecing the clues together with the characters. Just when you think you have a theory, the series throws you a curveball. It's the main reason why the show was so popular. Also, Crunchyroll, when are you gonna replace the TV version? Its been over a decade!

As others have said, you are doing great - don't worry about it. Look forward to more reactions next week <3

ahh was hoping a double up for invincible to catch up!

i think you're keeping up with things very well. You got the main things from this ep like how there's no hole in the wall so the titans are somehow spawning past it

Hey Nat, I wouldn't worry about missing anything, you're doing fine. I'm watching the show for the second time and I'm catching new stuff almost every episode, there's a load of subtle clues and things that you're not really supposed to get the first time around but which make perfect sense in hindsight. That said, while most things are very much intentional, the show is sometimes confusing and awkwardly edited for seemingly no reason but to keep the viewer off balance.

Loving the anime series, AOT is by far one of the best stories across ALL shows in my opinion... would love to see 2 episodes a week for this

Nat I know I sound like a broken record, but please trust me, as someone who has seen this show multiple times... You'll want to pay attention to the end-credits animations! Please start sticking around the extra minute for the songs, the imagery is very very important! Treat them like the intros: something you can talk over, but should still watch. And don't worry about being confused with the subtitles in the episodes....all will be made clear soon :) It's intentionally vague right now.

Your not missing anything. The translations are correct. It’s intentional, the characters in universe are just as confused as you are.

Guys its almost here, the first "Trifecta" of episodes, does anyone think we can talk her into watching E29-31 in one sitting? let her experience Peak the way Isayama and god intended?

there was a few extra episodes released as prequels to what happens in season 1. in one called illse's notebook hange's squad comes across a titan that she wants to capture that starts to behave weird. at first the titan chased her until it suddenly stops and turns back around. she follows it through some trees and discovers it banging its head against the tree. she gets close, close to put herself and her squad in danger and the titan stops its action to attack her. they kill the titan and after doing so learn what the titan was so protective of. they discover the body of a headless scout member deep in the tree and at the foot of the tree a notebook. in the notebook it begins to tell the tale of illse who was part of a squad going outside the wall but her entire team had failed. this brown haired with short hair woman knew she was gonna die outside the walls as her team had died and her gear had failed, so she had to ditch it and try to make it back to the walls on foot. the entire time writing in her journal so she could be of use after her death, wishing also to leave her family something when they find her body. as she was making her way to the walls she suddenly came across a titan standing by a tree in hiding, unnoticed by the short haired brown haired woman. thinking these are her last moments as the titan came closer, she wrote down its actions. it came closer to her, bearing down on her like an unstoppable force, pushing her back against the same tree hange found. but the titan didnt attack. instead, it did the most unexpected action. it bowed. lowering its head before the woman, it bowed in humbleness, uttering a single word, a name. illse continued to write in her notebook, seeing how this is a titan to her knowledge is the first to ever speak, she writes down what it said, as well as the questions she asked it. she asks a few questions at first before succumbing to rage and yells at the titan, asking why it has to eat people. the titan seemingly distraught and in pain starts to tear at its own face with its hands, causing it to bleed. in fear, illse tries to run away but is not fast enough. the titan forces her in its mouth, she writes on her final moments. telling her it grabbed her, forced her head in its mouth and its teeth pressing down on her skull before the words finally stop... the titan is then seen breaking the tree open and gently placing the body inside. we cut back to hange who's just finishing the notebook and after copying the information, returns it to her family, along with illse's coat. the name that titan uttered? ymir. i say this because thats why hange was shocked to hear her name this episode. when they were describing christa to her and said christa is always hanging out with ymir.

I love these AOT reactions and you're certainly not missing too much so don't worry. I am a little sad though with the low weekly output for this show. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you release like four episodes a week when doing AtlA for example? Anyways, I'm excited for the fucked up Nightcrawler on Friday.

we've had one day of AoT, yes. What about second AoT day? *judgmental Pippin face*

Happy Monday Nat. Hope you had an awesome weekend. Really enjoyed the livestreams again. This season of AOT has been epic so far. I love the whole darkness aspect to these episodes. Adds another level to the terror. The werewolf beast seems to have enhanced intelligence. He's going to catch them off guard. Look forward to the next one Nat 😊
