Help me pick a movie!
Title says it all :)
Haven't seen any of these so excited to see what y'all pick!

Starship Troopers!!! I'm doing my part! Want to learn more?
I think close encounters suffered from its age here. However overall it was a foundational movie. It’s been copied so much across so many genres. Might be worth a look in your free time Natalie
Will you do Mandalorian season 3 at some point?
Why did starship troopers win such an overrated movie smh 🤦♂️
since this poll is so close , you have to watch both movies ;) .... please
Donnie Darko is something special
I am just so incredibly happy she is watching more movies now. Feels like the good old days of this channel. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
All of these I think are a good option, Pan's was very meh for me but the rest are great.
Only one in this list that I haven't watched is Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I'm not really wanting to scratch that off a list quite yet and I'm a pretty darn big fan of Starship Troopers! :)
Neck and neck😭
Starship Troopers is big right now because of Helldivers 2 so I want you to get that boost from it! Plus I just rewatched it myself so that would be perfect, but there are many great options here. Please bring most of these back for a later poll!!
Does anyone know when she’s gonna watch Dune: Part Two?
It's not available on streaming services or physical media yet, so I assume quite shortly after it becomes available for private viewing that she will be uploading a reaction.
we have a TIE sweet
Percy Jackson for next show?
dead draw! Nice. both great ones too i think Nat would enjoy.
I fear you might be suffering from a lack of truly great movies in your life. Try Fort Apache (1948). It's basically the same story as Starship Troopers but this film actually has ACTORS in it, instead of meat puppets. You know that the bugs are just modern replacements for Native Americans, right? A bunch of beings that we can feel good about killing, while cheering on the US Cavalry, I mean the United Citizen Federation forces.
This is like Sophie’s Choice 🤣. All great.
Come one starship troopers, ready player one is literally just cameos the movie
Neither is worthy of spending 2 hours in brain-numbing insipidness. After all, how seriously can you take a movie whose "star" is Casper Van Dien or Tye Sheridan. Two acting careers already lost to obscurity. Starship Troopers, in particular, is simply violence porn with a plot as thin as tissue-paper. Just enough plot to "justify" the violence for those who need a reason to watch 2 hours of mindless violence. BTW the story has been done before - Fort Apache (1948).
All great choices. But if you haven't seen the classic, CETK, you are missing out. So many pop culture references come from this film. And its classic Aliens are here/Government paranoia wrapped up in this epic of an ending. Definitely keep it in mind for the future.
Quick google of CITK isn't coming up with anything definitive, is that an acronym for something?
Pan's Labrynth is an excellently made film! (And one of Guillermo del Toro's first movies) Gorgeous, fantastical, and the themes are just *chef's kiss*
One of Guillermo del Toro's first movies? Lol no it’s not
Ready Player One is a great movie. I have watched it at least 6 times.
A lot movie references in that movie hopefully ones she has seen
This is a fascinating poll, mostly because I did not realize that many folks actually liked Ready Player One. Starship Troopers automatically gets my vote in any poll that it's in, so this was an easy one for me. Pan's Labyrinth and Donnie Darko are truly excellent as well.
Would of voted Pan's if it had a chance, voted for ST instead. I've never got the love for Ready Player One either. The endless. overwhelming fan service just buries what little story there is to the point that by the end I didn't care what happened..
Saw the first answer and I did not even hesitate... Bring Donnie Back on the polls, Nat! It'll win eventually.🤞🤞
Which version of Donnie Darko? But a more important question: do these polls do any good? Natalie has only so much time, and - i am pleased to say - SO many Patreon and other supporting subscribers! Without a sane polling scheme, that being Ranked Choice Voting, are any of us well served by these polls? More importantly, is Natalie? I'll take my answers "off the air".
STARSHIP TROOPERS THEN PLAY HELLDIVERS!
And enjoy a fresh cup of Liber-Tea!!!
What a nail biter
Tied so far
Road Runner cartoons have more depth than Starship Troopers. For God's sake, the script was written in crayon.
Only if you take it literally. When you realise it's a satire it becomes something else all together.
I liked ready player one just like all futuristic movies the dates and time of when it will happen are always off but the detail of but the call back of where games started and where it may one day go. But there are so many haters that don't see Ready Player One for what it is , A step forward to an ideal many gamers want. Not something that's going to happen tomorrow or for many years. And I think as a gamer Natalie will like Ready Player One .
This is one of the first polls I'm having difficulties voting on
I would love to see Donnie Darko win. Its one of my favorite movies of all time!
Anything but rp1. That movie is so contrived.
Honestly, if they somehow remain within 2% of each other, I'd just do both. We have Thursday and Friday movies sometimes anyways. And it would be nice to get away from 20$ movies for a while. I'm still reeling from Napoleon 🤣
RPO is a very enjoyable movie, but Starship Troopers is a by many misunderstood masterpiece. Fun little detail for all who watched and will watch it (and it is spoiler free): Amy Smarts character actually doesn't like Richardsons character in the shuttle scene if you watch closely.
I'm honestly surprised Ready Player One has so many votes. I remember seeing that in theaters and apologizing to my friend for convincing him to join me...
You are a person with better taste than about a third of the people who has voted
Someone asked me once if I knew the difference between a civilian and a citizen. I know now. A citizen votes for Starship Troopers!
I mean if you haven't seen Starship Troopers then its a no brainer as that is a classic. Ready Player one is good too but I wouldn't put it on the same level.
Here's an idea: Troopers for the 2nd channel (perfect) and RP1 for the main (also perfect) it's a win win!
Hey Nat I think this is the winner right here ;) Both films next week, everybody wins! I mean except for the people who wanted the other 3, but they'll probably get over it.
Starship Troopers is ahead, but Ready Player One seems a close second. I'd be happy if either won.
Picking between Starship Troopers, Pans Labyrinth, and Donnie Darko was hard, but I guess I made the right choice with Starship Troopers cause the other two are getting smoked.
Same
Starship Troopers leads the poll...Would you like to know more?
YES STARSHIP TROOPERS!!!!!
While Starship Troopers is the better movie I'd say Ready Player One is the more enjoyable one and would imo make for a better reaction
Naw I like Starship Troopers over RP1
I mean in all honesty you have to watch like 4 of these back to back
Ready player 1 over starship troopers…smdh.
Donnie Darko 100%
Ready Player One is a fun movie. It’ll be a real test of Natalie’s popular movie knowledge. The video game references will be the real test. It would make a fun trivia challenge: Bet on how many references Natalie calls out and the winner gets to choose a movie for her to watch.
I don't understand how Pan's Labyrinth is doing so poorly. It's one of those "must watch" movies. Although I guess you can save it. But it needs to be watched.
I’m a huge fan of Guillermo del Toro’s films, but I’m not surprised Pan’s Labyrinth isn’t getting many votes. Fantasy-horror for children is a niche genre, for certain. Consequently, Pan’s isn’t considered a pop culture classic, even though it’s an amazing film. The Shape of Water would probably get more votes because it’s more recent and it won Best Picture and Director. But I’d wager that Hellboy 1 & 2, Blade 2, and Pacific Rim would get more votes. ALL are good picks!
Absolutely criminal that Close Encounters is dead last. Such a beautiful movie and classic Spielberg. But I get it, it's old and some would even say it's boring. They are wrong, but what can you do?
Ready Player One is absolutely a fun movie, with so many pop culture references (that now Natalie should know, watching so many movies the last 3 years!) with a great villain and is so relevant to the YT Reactor's lane. I'm choosing that one. Starship Troopers is a solid Verhoeven (Total Recall, Basic Instinct, Robocop, Showgirls, Hollow Man) Sci-Fi action flick. Has great actors and a fun story. I would not be sad to see that win either. Pan's Lab is a unique fairy tale and would freak Natalie out and also make her cry. While it isn't really horror - it's horrific in parts. Would also not be sad to see that one win, and if it doesn't, I hope it gets on a horror poll or makes it to Natmare Season. Darko is unique and weird and has some great actors when they were young. It's one of those movies you should watch about 2-3 times before you understand it, and I don't know that it would make for as good a reactor watch. But, I would still say it is worth watching! And finally, while Close Encounters has some iconic moments, is one of Spielberg's first movies, won lots of awards.... it is boring. I think it's kept alive by conspiracy theorists and people who wish Aliens were a real thing. Maybe watch it for the nostalgia and to just know about it.. but there are so many better movies out there than what could be made in 1977.
Service guarantees citizenship! Come on, you apes! You wanna live forever?! Some great movies on the list, but for pure entertainment the experience of Starship Troopers is like eating a big bag of candy while never taking your eyes off the screen the whole way through. Little bit of trivia: Starship Troopers holds the record for the most blanks (fake bullets if you're not familiar with the term) ever used in a film production, it was something like 800,000 if my memory serves. It also held the record for the biggest gasoline explosion for the long shot of the bug planet being bombed from the air, until the record was beaten by that Bond film's explosion.
Nat hasn't seen enough movies to get half of the references in Ready Player One, save it for another time.
What a selection... I'm torn between Donnie Darko and Pan's Labyrinth.
Once again, all great choices, but Starship Troopers is a must see. I can see it being an entertaining reaction to say the least.
You gotta pick Starship Troopers over Ready Player One!
Ready Player One is the weakest movie in this poll, by far. So of course it's winning. Seriously, there has got to be a lot of tactical voting going on, because that's the only way to explain why Close Encounters is dead last. 😄 And I'm doing my part!
The poll choices lack a coherent theme that would otherwise get more balanced responses. I’m a fan of Close Encounters… and if it was on a poll with other classic ‘80s sci-fi movies, like E.T., WarGames, TRON, Robocop, The Running Man, Highlander… Dune 🤔 (debatable), then Close Encounters would probably receive more votes. I’m just glad that Donnie Darko isn’t winning. Not that it’s a bad movie or I dislike it… I just have a negative association with that movie because my college housemates would get stoned and watch it over and over again, and have the same dumbass stoner commentary because they couldn’t remember. 🤬 RUINED the movie for me! 😉 I’m (reasonably) confident that Natalie’s reaction (although her Burning Man anecdotes make me… concerned) would be worth watching… ONCE (otherwise it might trigger my PTSD) 😉
If starship troopers wins, Nat should play Helldivers 2 on her gaming channel 😂
All are good movies. Personally, I voted for Close Encounters. Classic sci-fi film with great special effects are great performances from the cast, plus it's a Speilberg film!
All the movies are good, but Ready Player One would be my last choice over the others.
This is one of those polls were I think ill be happy with whatever wins, I personally have gone for Starship Troupers as its such a good corny movie I think Nat will enjoy it lol.
starship troopers come onnnn
Such a great list of movies! Look forward to you getting to them all.
2 Spielberg films, 1 Verhoeven and 1 del Toro, It's a pretty good list. I think it would be fun to do a Poll with just Paul Verhoeven films: RoboCop, Starship Troopers, Total Recall, Showgirls, and Hollow Man. Waddaya say?
I hate that I can't vote for both Ready Player One and Starship Troopers
Surprised that Ready Player One is winning, since it’s definitely not one of Spielberg’s most beloved films, but I am a fan of it. Somehow he managed to turn a terrible book into a personal reflection on his legacy. Personally I’d rather see Pan’s Labyrinth or Close Encounters win, but I’d be happy with any of these.
If you haven’t read Ready Player One, you will probably enjoy it. Donnie Darko is an interesting watch.
Everything here is good. Donnie Darko is a cult classic. Excellent. Pans Labyrinth a beautiful dark more mature fairy tale. My pick is Starship Troopers. You have to come back to this one this movie is fucking iconic.
It's devastating that Ready player one is beating Starship Troopers.
Yes to any of these, but hell yes to Starship Troopers, and fuck yes to Close Encounters. Here's hoping it's not the last time we see that option.
Starship troopers!
How the hell is Donnie Darko not even close to first? What is wrong with you people
Happy Wednesday Nat. Some really cool movies in this poll. I'm doing my part with Starship Troopers. Such an epic movie. The music is awesome, and I'm sure you'll have fun with some of the performances 😄 Have a great day Nat 💛
Darko is easily best movie on the list…
Multiple good choices, but I think the one that would make for the most enjoyable reaction is definitely Ready Player One. It's one of the rare cases where I actually like the movie better than the book it's based on. That being said, Close Encounters is classic Spielberg and definitely worth watching(I would make sure to mention the runtime if you do that one, there are at least three different cuts out there). And Pan's Labyrinth is a masterpiece by Guillermo Del Toro, I would argue it's his best work.
I'm doing my part!
Oh no Starship Troopers is gonna make you throw up 😭
I'm doing my part!
Throw end of watch in this next time! You’d love it!
This is a no brainer I voted for Ready Player One it is sooooo much fun.
Going to suggest "The Iron Claw" for a future poll maybe it'll win this time lol
How is ready player one even competing?? Steaming pile of crap that movie. Starship Troopers all the way
I'm doing my part!
Starship Troopers is such a great movie!
I'm doing my part!
Guys we gotta pick Pan's Labyrinth just to freak Natalie out lol
Starship troopers is the clear choice here
PLEASE watch ready player one. its AMAZING and kind of reminds me of the matrix but more awareness of the virtual world
I'm doing my part!
Starship Troopers has to win
Sophie’s choice of flicks for sure
This is one of the most insane movie polls i've ever seen.
Starship Troopers is great, definitely worth the watch.
I’m doing my part!
