I got fully AI-made music for mastering π€
(Video link at bottom)
Whether we like it or not, AI is here to stay, and sure enough, it does divide opinions for a reason.
TBH I've been expecting for some fully AI music to come in for treatment sooner than later. And recently, I was sent a fully AI-made song for mastering.
How does the song sound and how do I feel about treating it and AI music in general?
How is the production/mix now that it's fully been made by a machine β has it learned well and does it compare to human-made music?
It's the style of music I have worked an absolute ton on, so I def have something to say.
Someone even said I should not work on fully AI-generated music as an engineer in their opinion. Did I work on it or turn it down?
Making my living in the music industry, this is an interesting topic.
Here we go, video below!

Just bought your 170 DNB Breaks =) Stoked!!! Also bought your first sample pack from Bandcamp. I like the basses.
Big up! ππ»
Made me think of this haiku I came across recently. Writing shit about new snow For the rich Is not art. Not exactly directly relevant to the AI discussion, but artists have always had to deal commodification and consumption of their art by some who just don't get it.
Love the haiku!
Super interesting video. Iβm with you on not fighting the AI because if we have to listen to AI slop (no disrespect to this song in particular btw) you might as well make it as pleasing as possible and profit off of it. I do wonder if the mix flaws you saw in this one would be prevalent throughout AI music in this genre maybe because of training data (lots of poorly mixed tech house to choose from). Another issue I know used to plague stem separation that I feel I still sort of hear is the really high frequency content has like digital βmp3β sounding artifacts, I think bc higher cycles takes more processing to reproduce accurately. I suspect eventually that wonβt be perceptible at all but it still feels kinda bad to me. Hope the AI trains on some Fanu tutorials and stops high passing the horns π€π
I dont think AI has watched my videos on how to get the bass right :D
Hey, very interesting. I have been playing around with AI generation. I know it's not for everyone but some of the tunes it generates are beyond what I can make myself these days. After what you were saying about Ozone master rebalance I tried loading that module into Waves Studioverse plugin wrapper in multiband split so it only affects the lows (I tried crossover at 60Hz) and it was a wow moment. I don't have mastering engineer ears but it certainly thickened the lows in a pleasing way. Whether this creates other issues with phase or something because of the crossover you'd probably hear better than me. Worth trying, I'd say.
Nice one! Engineering tricks ππ»π
