Lush pad with Ableton tools (+a wee bit of 3rd party spice)
You prob saw my video on creating an atmospheric pad with Serum 2.
Often, when I just want to relax, I create pads and chords.
A patron of mine said they'd like to see how to make a classic atmosphere jungle type pad with Ableton Analog, so hey, hold my beer, I got you!
Analog is actually a fairly simple synth, so it's good practice to take that and use a little bit of extra spice to try and make it lush, so let's do a pad session!
There's many other great synths out there that offer so much more tonally, and I will cover those a bit later too.
Keep it lush!

Nice tutorial. As far as I can tell, with pad sound design, there are very few rules — long attack, long release, and pretty much anything goes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Add movement to taste, using envelopes, filters, FX and LFOs. Freeze reverb tails. Resample. etc etc. I also like adding quiet filtered layers of foley 😎. Potentially you can add hiss, noise, crackle etc to push the retro/analog vibe further. I notice you avoided using any chorusing/phasing etc on this pad — is that a stylistic preference, or something that you generally avoid? Also, the Lexicon does sound really nice (as did the Shimmer) — are there any Ableton reverbs that get close to some of these sounds?
Yeah I don’t usually use phasers a lot but it could work; chorus always works, and the unison feature in Analog does similar things (detune). I dint think Ableton does shimmer reverb!
My version of Roar doesn't have the dispersion filter, it would seem. :( Looks great, though — Roar is one of my favourite additions to Live in recent times – such a swiss army knife!
Yes, it's a beta feature (I prob mentioned it); coming quite soon, I'd say!
