I enjoyed the flashback seeing how Jake and Kino met. Love how Jake doesn't go along with the bullying and tossed it back at him. Followed by Jake being Jake no matter the age. But what I really enjoyed is that this flasback is met with Jake reflecting on the dance still. Along with his previous line of stopped trying to push a friendship, and Kino belief in letting relationships form naturally along with the flashback is great. Can see how Jake trying to push things didn't work, but simply him and the others being their for Kino is what led him to come around to them. Really loved the detail of his eyes being dark scraggles and becoming clear at the end. Had me smiling as I waited to see if his eyes gained any color as I read it. Besides the flashback, I do enjoy how Jake does seriously reflect on his actions. Yet also has me wonder if this goal of making others happy will be explored more? Thank you for the fun chapter. I like the detail of his Jake likes nicknames and gave all his friends one. And how middle school him had trouble remembering Kino's name so started thinking of one.
