New Resident Evil 8 patch breaking trainers
Resident Evil Village got a patch today, it's likely the version they're using for the DLC that's being released in less than two weeks.
With this version, they added new anti-tamper code that scans for changes to the game made in memory and then makes the game quit if changes are detected. This makes the RE8 trainer in my mod manager no longer compatible.
I'll look at this situation again once the DLC is out, but I'm thinking I'll simply retire my RE8 trainer (I'll probably still keep it there if people ever end up using the previous game version). The primary feature was the 3rd person mod, and Capcom will be adding that as an official mode, so I don't have much reason to ensure that mod is still working. The other parts of the trainer were pretty minor, anyway (FOV change, which is something you can do via file modding anyway; vignette removal; and HUD removal).
Edit: This patch causes the game to crash on start-up for many people even if the game is fully unmodified. If this is happening to you, you can install praydog's RE Framework to fix the issue: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1196590/discussions/0/5002961597094108389/

is there perhaps an ethan head mod u know?
Ethan head mod? One that adds a head to his first person model? That's part of the 3rd person mod, though I'm not sure if there's much point to it now.
the dlc is fine i just really want the 3rd person mod for the story
For the story campaign? If you get the DLC, then you get an official 3rd person mode that works better than the one I had made.
ok thanks
pls try to get the mod working again pls
Are you talking about the 3rd person mod? Maybe I'll look again into sometime in the future, but for now, I'm taking a break from RE8 modding. I don't even own the DLC for it yet.
Ok, thanks
I have the upcoming DLC pre-ordered, I have the previous DLC (which now gives an error too). I used mods via FQ before the update, but now I reinstalled the game elsewhere and tried loading via the steam play button. They F'd something up.
You could try to install the latest RE Framework and see if it makes the game run again: https://github.com/praydog/REFramework-nightly/releases Download RE8.zip, extract to where RE8 is installed, delete the openvr_api.dll and openxr_loader.dll files, and then see if the game runs
RE8 won't start for me, even if I don't use Fluffy. I can't run it from Steam and I had steam verify my files too.
And you're running no mods? For instance, no mods that are automatically loaded via DLL files. I'm hearing a lot of other people say they can't run the game either, so Capcom might have introduced a major bug with this version. Edit: I saw one guy claim it happens if you've got the DLC pre-ordered.
