Resident Evil 1 GOG Release using Gemini's REbirth patch
The original Resident Evil 1 has finally gotten a new release on PC on GOG. It's great we finally have a way to actually acquire the game legally without hunting for expensive second-hand physical copies, but the port is fairly barebones and overshadowed by Gemini's REbirth patch.
If you want to run this new release using Gemini's patch, here are instructions:
Get the game over at GOG: https://www.gog.com/en/game/resident_evil
Install the game using GOG Galaxy
Afterwards, click on drop-down menu that's to the right of Play and click on Manage Installation -> Configure
In this menu, choose Japanese as language, which will prompt GOG Galaxy to install the Japanese version.
Click on the drop-down menu again and click on Manage Installation -> Show folder
Rename these three files to anything else: biohazard.exe, ddraw.dll, and dinput.dll
Download this patch and extract it to where the game is: https://classicrebirth.com/index.php/download/biohazard-pc-cd-rom-patch-version-1-01/
Download Gemini's REbirth patch and extract it to where the game is: https://classicrebirth.com/index.php/download/resident-evil-dll-fix-for-classic-edition/
Now run the game and you should get a launcher with quite a few more features than GOG's wrapper.
