The Incubus System Chapter 1550. Why Do so Many Care for You?

The Incubus System Chapter 1550. Why Do so Many Care for You?

Ethan’s PoV

I was drifting deeper into sleep.

Emma's warmth remained against me, her arms loosely wrapped around my body while her breathing gradually settled into a peaceful rhythm. I was comfortable. And, most importantly, nobody was demanding anything from me.

Then a voice came. “I'm envious of you…”

Hm?

My consciousness stirred.

What?

Wait.

I knew that voice.

There was something unmistakable about it. Neither masculine nor feminine, neither young nor old. It sounded distant, yet impossibly close, as though someone were speaking directly inside my skull from somewhere beyond the boundaries of existence.

Oh, no… Not again.

I opened my eyes.

Emma was gone. So was her bedroom.

Instead, I found myself standing in a place where darkness and light existed without ever completely touching.

An endless expanse stretched around me. There was no ground beneath my feet, yet I could stand perfectly well. Above me, enormous currents of pale gold drifted through an ocean of black and violet, twisting around one another like rivers flowing through the sky.

Somewhere in the distance, fragments of unfamiliar landscapes floated silently.

A ruined tower. A broken mountain. Something resembling the remains of an enormous cathedral. Beyond them, stars appeared and vanished without warning.

It reminded me of Puriel's dream world. Except this place felt older.

Puriel's dream world had possessed a strange serenity. This place didn't feel serene. It felt abandoned. As though reality had forgotten to finish building it.

I slowly turned. “Okay… where the hell am I?” I knew this was in a dream world, but what kind?

Then I saw it.

And my breath nearly stopped.

Something enormous hovered in the darkness. No, enormous wasn't enough. Gigantic wasn't enough either. I had seen powerful demons. I'd stood before creatures whose bodies could dwarf buildings.

But this?

This thing made those memories feel insignificant.

Its body stretched across the void like a living mountain of darkness. Black, organic armor covered its irregular form, threaded with glowing violet veins that pulsed like the nervous system of some ancient cosmic organism.

At its center was an eye.

One colossal eye.

Its iris shimmered, surrounding a narrow vertical pupil that seemed to contain an endless abyss. And around that eye… Tentacles. So many tentacles.

Some were thick enough to resemble skyscrapers. Others were slender, twisting through the darkness like living cables. Several extended so far into the surrounding void that I couldn't see where they ended. Smaller eyes decorated parts of their surfaces, opening and closing independently.

One tentacle curled around a floating fragment of stone.

The fragment crumbled. Not because the tentacle crushed it. It simply disappeared, as though the space containing it had been erased.

I swallowed.

‘Holy shit.’

My eyes traveled upward, following the creature's impossible silhouette.

Its body didn't appear to obey any consistent anatomy. Portions of it shifted between solid matter and translucent darkness, while enormous rings of broken structures revolved around its upper half.

The longer I stared, the harder it became to understand its actual size.

A building? This thing could probably use a building as a toothpick.

I took an involuntary step backward. “You…”

The giant eye focused on me. Every smaller eye stopped moving.

My throat tightened. “You're that colossal eye.”

The creature remained silent for a moment. Then its voice rolled through the void. “Yes.”

The sound didn't echo.

The entire space seemed to vibrate with it.

“You named me that.”

I stared.

The colossal eye. Because whenever this mysterious bastard appeared before, all I'd ever seen was a single gigantic eye staring at me from somewhere it had absolutely no business existing.

Apparently, that had only been the equivalent of seeing someone's face through a window. A very, very large window. This was the first time I'd seen its entire body. And I wasn't particularly grateful for the privilege.

I forced myself to breathe normally. “What do you want now?”

One of its tentacles shifted. The movement sent a ripple through the surrounding darkness. “You managed to save that man.”

I frowned. “What man?”

“The one marked by the Light King's power.”

“Nathan?”

The enormous pupil narrowed slightly. “Yes.”

I folded my arms. “Yeah, I saved him.”

Technically, I'd also beaten him, stripped away the royal holy power Aurelion had bestowed upon him, and accidentally created one of the most embarrassing romantic situations in human history. But those were details.

“Thanks for the heads-up, by the way.”

The creature watched me. I remembered its earlier warning. Without that information, things might have gone considerably worse.

“I am envious of you,” the creature repeated.

I blinked and frowned. “Envious? Of what?” I gestured vaguely around myself. “My problems? Because I'll happily give them to you.”

The giant eye didn't move.

I continued, “Seriously. You want Aurelion? Take him. You want the Light Dimension's political bullshit? All yours. You can have the dimensional cracks too. Consider it a gift.”

Silence.

Then the creature answered. “You have good women.”

I stopped. “…What?”

“Good women,” it repeated. “Many.”

My expression slowly changed.

Why did I suddenly have a terrible feeling about this conversation?

The enormous pupil remained fixed on me. “They care for you. They desire your presence. They touch you without fear. They remain beside you even when you sleep.”

I stared at it. Then remembered Emma. The club. The VIP room. The extremely private activities that had occurred before I'd started escorting everyone home. My face twisted. “Wait.”

Several tentacles shifted.

I pointed at the creature. “Did you peek at me?”

It didn't answer immediately.

“In that club?” I demanded.

“I saw.” A pause. “I watched.”

I physically recoiled. “Holy shit.”

The creature remained completely unbothered.

I dragged a hand down my face. “Pervert,” I whispered.

Imagine being a colossal cosmic entity existing between three dimensions, possessing a body larger than entire city districts, only to spend your time spying on an incubus's private life.

What an incredible waste of potential.

The creature ignored my accusation. “Why?”

I lowered my hand. “Why what?”

“Why do so many care for you?”
