The Incubus System Chapter 1535. Back to Sea Devil Club
Pearl’s lips curved. “Well,” she purred. “Look who finally visits after making the entire college lose its mind.”
I stepped inside.
The door closed behind me.
All eyes stayed on me.
I smiled. “Sounds like you missed me.”
Elenna immediately stood. “Damian.”
Her voice softened in that dangerous way, all affection and hunger. She moved toward me with fluid grace, arms sliding around my waist as if she had been waiting to melt there. Her body pressed to mine.
She looked up at me. “You feel different.”
I brushed my fingers through her hair.
“Bad day.”
Pearl raised her glass. “That is what you call this? Bad day?”
Diamond leaned back. “I heard it was a masterpiece.”
Olivia covered her face. “Please don’t start.”
Camila was already grinning. “No, start. I want to hear everything from the source.”
Emma looked at me with the exhausted expression of someone who had spent too much time preventing public disaster. “You created chaos at college.”
“I attended college.”
Olivia pointed at me. “You appeared as a mysterious woman and made Nathan fall in love.”
“Accidentally.”
Camila choked on her drink.
Pearl laughed softly, delighted. “Accidentally?”
I walked farther inside with Elenna still attached to me like affectionate slime jewelry. “Yes.”
Diamond’s eyes gleamed. “You accidentally became a dark romance heroine?”
“Technically camouflage.”
“Technically,” Camila said, “Nathan stared at you like he saw salvation in heels.”
“I wasn’t wearing heels.”
“That makes it worse.”
Olivia dropped her hand and stared at me. “Do you know Larry looked like someone killed his dog?”
“He doesn’t have a dog.”
“I mean emotionally.”
I shrugged. “He recovered. Pizza.”
I sat down on the sofa, and Elenna immediately settled beside me, still close, her arm looping around mine. Pearl watched the motion with amusement.
“You came here to escape?” she asked.
“No. To celebrate.”
Pearl tilted her head. “What happened?”
I looked at the blue light moving across the ceiling.
Then smiled.
“Two angels came to Lust City.” I continued lazily, “They asked questions. Tried to find who helped me. Then attacked.”
Pearl’s voice cooled. “And?”
“I killed them.”
No one spoke.
The music outside filled the silence.
Soft.
Sensual.
Almost obscene against the weight of those words.
I turned my glass between my fingers, though I hadn’t picked one up. Pearl noticed and handed me hers without question.
I drank.
Sweet.
Burning.
Good.
“And now,” I said, “I’m done behaving for the Light Dimension’s observation.”
Emma swallowed. “Damian…”
I looked at her.
She stopped.
Not because I threatened her.
Because my eyes probably didn’t look like Ethan’s right now.
Maybe they shouldn’t.
Pearl studied me, her smile returning slowly. “You look dangerous tonight.”
“I am dangerous every night.”
“Yes,” Diamond said, amused. “But tonight you know it.”
Elenna leaned closer, cheek brushing my shoulder. “I like it.”
As always, this reporter had questionable survival instincts.
I smiled and touched her chin lightly. “I’m thinking of taking Light’s throne.”
Olivia coughed so hard Camila had to slap her back.
Emma whispered, “What?”
Pearl’s eyes widened.
Then, slowly, she smiled like someone had just opened a very expensive bottle of disaster.
“Oh,” she murmured. “That is not a bad day, darling.”
Diamond lifted her glass. “That is a villain era.”
I looked around the room.
At Pearl’s hungry amusement.
Diamond’s glittering interest.
Elenna’s soft possessive gaze.
Olivia’s horror.
Camila’s excitement.
Emma’s desperate desire to be responsible and absolute failure to look away.
Then I smiled.
“Apparently.”
Pearl leaned forward, hair sliding over her shoulder. “And what does the future king of Light Dimension want from my VIP room tonight?”
I raised the glass. “Not much.”
The women watched me.
I let the smile stay.
Dark.
Lazy.
A little cruel.
“For tonight,” I said, “I just wanted to be somewhere no one asks me to be good. I want to be naughty.” My gaze slid over each of them. “I want to be rough.”
The music pulsed through the floor, a deep, rhythmic beat that echoed the suddenly accelerated rhythm of every pulse in the room. The air, once merely hazy with alcohol and perfume, grew thick with something else entirely, anticipation.
I set the glass down on the polished surface of the table. The crystal met the wood with a definitive click. The sound sliced through the tension.
Olivia looked like she might bolt.
Her mother, Camila, looked like she might hold the door shut.
Emma’s fingers tightened on her own glass, her knuckles white.
Elenna simply molded herself more firmly against my side, a soft, yielding pressure that promised utter surrender.
Then Pearl, ever the conductor of this particular orchestra of desire, rose to her feet in a single, sinuous motion. The blue light caressed the curves of her body, turning her silk robe into a second skin. She didn’t walk toward me, she flowed.
She stopped before me, close enough for me to feel the warmth radiating from her skin, to catch the scent of salt and night air that clung to her.
"Rough," she murmured, the word a velvet caress. "That's a request I can always accommodate." Her gaze held mine, dark and deep as the trenches she and her sister called home. "But 'naughty' suggests you want to break the rules, Damian. What rules are we breaking tonight?"
My fingers traced the line of Elenna's jaw, then slid into her hair, fisting gently. She sighed, a soft, happy sound of contentment, and leaned into the touch. I turned my full attention back to Pearl.
"The rule where I pretend my desires are gentle," I said, my voice a low rumble. "The rule where I treat any of you like you're fragile." I looked past Pearl, my gaze sweeping over the others, making them each feel the weight of my attention. "The rule where I hold back."
A collective, indrawn breath. The sound was more arousing than any music.
"Then you'd better not hold back," Diamond whispered, her voice a husky echo of her sister's challenge.
