Sea Guard
One of the winners of the last Elf poll was the Sea Guards. We started working on them.
Any suggestions for the command group scene?

Uno de los ganadores de la última encuesta sobre Elfos, fueron los Guardias del Mar. Empezamos a trabajar en ellos.
¿Alguna sugerencia para la escena del grupo de mando?

I think a standard carrier who is actually rallying the troops could be cool. Or maybe the musician could be struggling in a fighting pose with the instrument put away.
For the command group? Something with a chopped off sea monsters head. Maybe finishing of an octopus with writhing tentacles? Tentacles always do well...
For a scene poses - a leader pointing like they are directing a marksmen bow shot and they on the company, a champion type or a "grade" up from the rest of the guard have an option for bow drawn back in the same direction the leader is pointing. As if the leader is pointing out a critical target that needs to be neutralized (enemy commander type laying face up with arrow or two as the obvious death). Or a commander/champion type pointing at a dead enemy laying on the ground with a arrow sticking out as if they are discussing something about the slain enemy? Interesting - these vignettes that can be part of unit without making the unit's foot print too bid are no easy to come up with. Thanks for all the ones Last Sword Miniatures has already come up with.
I preferred your original sea guard designs, the armour and helmet looked better and more elegant imho. Any news on the wood elf kickstarter?
Would shields and spears and bows be too much? Or is it safe to just assume that as a unit they have a combination of both even if not all models do?
A mix of some models with spears out and some with the bows out would be awesome.
As they are combined arms I think showcasing some sort of scene to highlight this is a must. Perhaps a low posed front rank of spears with the archers leaping high to shoot over them. Could even have the command in some sort of director kinda pose towards the back giving commands instead of the front.
For the champion, definitely have him with one leg up on something, leaning forward, all piratic style. Maybe with a curved sword in hand instead of a spear?
So for the command group, one of them should have a big old HORN. Cause... Horatio Hornblower. Will the heads be swapable again? I was never a fan of the 'fish head' versions of these. :D
Yes, the heads are sure to be interchangeable.
Ah alright, that makes it a lot better in my opinion!
I think the armor looks a bit heavy for a light armored unit. I'd prefer a normal cloak over this platemail. For the front rank i'm more of a traditional supporter, but a scene on a ship would seem logical, altough difficult to execute in a ranked unit. Maybe something like the last unit, but in the captain's hut plotting a course? Now i'm typing anyway, a next unit maybe a sky sloop. Since it uses seaguard, a boltthrower variation and a great eagle you could cover multiple other highborn elves units in 1 by ajusting the poses. It seems like a cool low hanging fruit 🤔
Here we have a discrepancy of concepts. The sea guards in our view are not sailors. They are marines. But they are destined to fight on land. They are troops transported on ships to defend the empire or the elven colonies. A spearman is a citizen, like a Greek hoplite. The Sea Guard are Alexander the Great's professional phalanxes. We also have some initial designs for sailors :)
I would love to make a Bloodbowl team around that figure
If you want to suggest it. We have no problem putting it on the next vote on elves. But remind me before the vote :)
May charging and running... spears forward... Bows behind them to shoot down the enemy I image them running down the boat capturing the beaches since they are the elite force
We did a test landing. But the boat is too small if you want to include it in the unit. And one in the proper scale makes the unit unplayable. We haven't seen how to execute it.
