Second September Preview: Greek Peltasts with Slings and Dwarf Dracofires
Welcome back to our second preview for September. Following our first look at next month's releases, we have two distinct infantry sets taking shape across our main tiers: an agile skirmish option for The Adventurer and heavy close-range firepower for The Bannerman.
The Adventurer: Greek Peltasts with Slings
For this month's Adventurer tier, we are introducing a complete set of eight distinct sling-armed miniatures.
Historically, peltasts took their name from the pelte shield and were primarily armed with javelins, harassing enemy battle lines from outside close-combat reach. Greek commanders routinely deployed dedicated slingers alongside javelin skirmishers and archers as separate light-infantry specialists, using their range to contest difficult terrain and disrupt opposing phalanxes.
Rather than presenting slings as the standard weapon of historical peltasts, these models offer a dedicated sling-bearing option to expand our Classical Greek Peltast range. With a mix of pelte shields, unshielded skirmishers, varied helmets and bareheaded sculpts in dynamic winding and casting poses, they bring depth and character to the wider light-infantry screen guarding your army.
The Bannerman: Dwarf Dracofires
Over in The Bannerman, we are adding close-range support to the dwarven battle line with the Dwarf Dracofires.
During the War of the Roots, dwarfs and elves suffered bitter defeat under the devastating fury of dragons. The dwarfs never forgot that lesson; instead, they studied dragonfire and answered it through ingenious mechanical craftsmanship.
Much like the engineering that produced the Dwarf Balloon with Steam Cannon, the Dracofires turn that historical memory into battlefield capability, filling a crucial fire-support gap in dwarf battle formations.
Carrying heavy backpack tanks, flexible hoses and dragon-headed flamethrowers, this infantry unit delivers controlled sweeps of flame directly into incoming charges. The models include visible command options, complete with a pointing unit leader and a dedicated standard bearer.
Tell Us What You Think
We would love to know what you think of these latest previews.
Would you like to see additional slinger poses developed alongside our javelin-armed peltasts in future sets? And for the Dwarf Dracofires, which headgear option is your favourite: open-faced helmets, engineer goggles, or full protective masks?

The Dracofires are looking great! My only criticism would be they don't look burdened enough. Dwarves naturally feel like a race that load up with as much as they can bear, and a weapon like a flamethrower seems like it would be heavier and more cumbersome than most other weapons. Whether it's the gun itself looking relatively light compared to the rest of their kit, or their pose not showing a bit more strain, I'm not too sure.
Definitely like the idea of additional slinger poses. Dwarf Dracofires - full protective masks as it adds to their scariness - if they have to have full masks, the enemies are likely to get a worse dose *evil grin*
